Stopping a teen from accessing the internet???

Hi all,
I have a wireless network run by a Netgear DG834GT router. Currently there is a laptop and a desktop (not networked together) running wirelessly, with no problems at all.
Only the laptop has administrative access to the router. The desktop cannot access the router.
We now have another laptop which will be connected to the network on Xmas day, wirelessly of course.
I will give this new lappy the encryption code in order that it can access the network, and the new lappy will then be able to surf the internet etc….
However, if the teen that is getting this new lappy decides to visit sites and download stuff that I don’t want in our household I would like to be able to ‘bump’ it off the network by somehow removing it’s authorisation via the router.
I should point out that I am not a prude and don’t mind a bit of !!!!!!.
I will not be installing any for of spyware on the new lappy
Questions,
Can I keep an eye on websites being visited by the new lappy, using the administrative functions on the router?
Can I bump the lappy off the network, using the administrative functions on the router, without changing the network pass key?
In other words, I want to be able to stop the new lappy from accessing the internet via the router, if things get out of hand.
I look forward to your replies
Leo

er...the 834GT has mac filtering, so you could easily kick a machine off,..i alse seem to remember (I think it was the 8434) keyword and website blocking by MAC, (broken in at least 1 firmware release) but probably easier to install/invoke the vista parental controls..or d/load k9 to the machine...you can restrict sites and times, also pop on and see if the pron surfing has been of a high quality...and if it has, block the sites and fap on your own PC!Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
Make sure you change the password on the Router
Otherwise someone could easily guess it and change the settings
What ever happened to a wallop and taking the laptop of the teenager?0 -
I'll bet you it can. How does the desktop currently access the internet?
You can stop the new laptop from connecting to your wireless network by setting up MAC filtering on the router. You then allow your older laptop and desktop to retain access, by entering their MAC addresses on the allowed list.
Thanks
Answer question 1, via the router
MAC address? Huh?

Out of curiosity - if you don't mind him (I assume its a him) accessing a bit of !!!!!!, what are you trying to stop him doing?
I know, I am a nosey sod, but very curious what you are worried he might be up to if its not the !!!!!! that bothers you...0 -

Router password changed ages ago
Walloping and removing aint gonna happen, 'he knows his rights'. Been down that road before and trust me, he does know his rights. And they are many.....maybe for another discussion!
Far easier and less hassle just to block access.
