leosayer39........any teen with ''savy'' will be able to work round parents ,as a parent of 6 , have found that if brought up well by parents ,no bother ,all teenagers are ''curious'' think back when you were given your first dictionary ,the words you looked up ,to err is human and curious kids are part of parenthood , one word works TRUST ,domineer and you will fail , all best.
  • What next, will you fit them with a tracking device and a microphone so that you can further spy on absolutely everything they do?
    .

    People already do ;)

Leo, although I kind of disagree, I do feel for you. And I'm sorry, as I may have started it!

You are trying to do what you think is best, and your really getting a hard time for it!! Who is anyone to judge? As I've already said, they don't come with a handbook, your just left to do what you thinks right.

    Good luck

i have 3 teenagers , we are a 4 laptop and one big cumbersome in the corner of the main living room computer family

i have keylogger spyware on every single machine, the kids no nothing about it, i dont care if its an infringements of anyones rights its my house and my machines and my dam right to know what they get up to , if the kids dont like it if they ever find out first , then tough they can move out.

they just think im good with computers and no longer access or do anything illegal on the computer or let their friends use our computers as i wont let them

hope this doesnt start world war 3 on the forums lol im not changing its not an option, i dont trust ANY kids , i know what they get up to and they need supervision &, guidance, its a harsh world out there and its my job to protect them until they move out, when my duty is over and they have to stand on their own two feet, in the meantime im as devious as is necessary

I agree wholeheartedly with your solution to the problem, although it is not a solution that I want to use.
I have noticed that a few people have 'had a go' at you for your actions. I would suggest that you just ignore them. I never judge anyone on here, and those who do judge shouldn't, it isn't their place.

However, I don't want to put spyware on the lappy, all I want to do is monitor which websites he is visiting, bearing in mind he is using my isp.

how does logging their movment stop them getting onto things that they are not allowed too and if they are chatting away - then by rights the logging is going to be fairly large to sift through.... again the best way to do things like this is a router with content managment on it... no logs to look through, its quite obvious, does not require you looking over their shoulder every 5 mins and if its on the router - they cant get around it easily!

Agreed, I am looking into this option

That is spying, not protecting no matter how you dress it up.

Do you read their diary's and open their letters too? It is not different at all. Maybe you tap their telephone calls and record them? Maybe you track them with GPS?

A key logger is spying, hence you using the word spyware in your own post.

    Who are you to judge?

Its up to everyone on here as to how they go about preventing what they're children look at on the internet, we shouldnt be judging the ways other members use to do it, yes it may be morally wrong but its the members choice

You have already asked, and I have already answered. Scroll up.

As for judging, I wasn't. Read what I said. None of it was judging.
  • Considering I'm a child of a dictatorship, I've probably got more reason to judge than most on this site. I can see everyday the effects of people who lived under such a regime - and to consider applying similar effects upon one's own offspring is nothing short of scandalous.

Still does not give you the right to judge someone
