Cookworks Rice Cooker 1.5 Litre - 9.99 at argos

I love rice but can't cook it unless it comes in a microwaveable packet (uncle bens 2 mins stuff) but its £1 odd a bag. I live alone and love rice if this would be ok for cooking rice for one it would pay its self back in no time.
Are these easy to use? and is it suitable for making rice for 1?

I was rubbish at rice, it was always soggy or stuck to the pan LOL thank goodness for Saint Delia:xmassmile0 -
I've never cooked rice in a rice cooker, so I can't really help by answering your questions about them, but there is an older thread on rice cooking that may help you:
Anyone got a foolproof way of making rice?
Pink0 -
I had one of these a few years ago - it was really good if you like a light fluffy kind of rice. However, I found it was not very robust and soon broke (that being said, I have a cousin who is curry-mad who has had one of these for years without a problem). I resisted temptation to buy another. Last year I bought a veg steamer (tefal-type) as I like steamed veg and want to lose some weight by eating healthier. I noticed you can steam rice in it and tired it - it is lovely, just as good as the rice steamer PLUS you can do other stuff at the same time - eg salmon and some veg to have with it. So I now use this.

Ive got to admit that rice is one of my downfalls to old style that ive never attempted to cook yet, wouldnt know how.Im still buying frozen packets £1.49 for six individual servings that goes in the micrwave 3 mins.Think i might buy a apcket to see how i get on..is it cheaper?? and is there any huge difference in taste between say uncle bens and value rice?0

Yes, it's a lot cheaper - and the link that Pink Winged posted in post #3 has plenty of suggestions on how to cook rice well.

I got a rice cooker in the argos sale some time ago and I have never cooked rice in a pan since. It's perfect every time.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Was in Thailand earlier this year and went on several cooking courses. The teachers ALL used rice cookers in their own homes.0

We don't have the counter space for a rice cooker (we'd use it a lot as we love rice) but we do have a microwave steamer. Basically it's a basket that sits inside a pot with a lid - you put the rice in, add the right amount of water, put the lid on and nuke it :rudolf:
Quick, easy and the same nice rice every time!
This is like the one we have:

Seraphina,, I have one of those but I've lost the instructions so don't use it. Could you give me an idea of the quantities to use and the timings? Thank you.0
