I`ve never used a rice cooker, but always get good results with the electric steamer (using the rice dish that comes with these steamers.) One mug of rice, measured then rinsed, then add SAME measure of water, steam 30 mins.
I`ve had a few disasters doing rice in a pan, but perfect in steamer, whichever type of rice I`ve used.

Hi I have an elevtric rice cooker, as despite being half Asian I cannot cook rice, mych to my Mum's horror!
I use 1 cup of rice to 1 1/2 cups of water, as Greenqueen says you must use the same cup for both rice and water, to be honest, it is hard to muck up with a rice cooker.

  • A relative gave me a rice cooker for my birthday. I have to say I don't really know how to make the most of it. Having lived in Asia in my youth I learnt to cook rice, particularly basmatti, with no fuss. I've heard other things can be cooked in a rice cooker. Any ideas on how I can make better use of it?
