Unhappy Acai Berry Power "FREE" trial

Has anyone else been sucked into this "free" scam thats online about Acai Berries????
I heard good things about the health benefits of taking acai berry power and decided to order the free trial from their website as you only have to pay about £2 p&p..... anyway I put all of my details in and clicked submit, by which time it was too late to realise that in the small print it states that once you order the free trial unless you cancel it within 14 days they automatically charge your credit card for a further supply and its about £40 or £50 each time until you cancel!!
anyway, they have a phone number on their website but as they are in Florida they have conveniently forgotten to give the rest of the number (dialing codes etc) and I was wondering if anyone has successfully managed to cancel this after receiving the free trial?????
I have tried searching online for dialing codes but all the numbers I have tried are unobtainable
001 954 877 350 8480 & 001 989 877 350 8480

Please can anyone help me????????

Default Difficulty in cancelling Acai 500 trial

Hi

I fell for the trial aswell - so grateful to you for spotting the awful terms and conditions - thank you!

I decided that it would be too difficult to get the trial cancelled so instead i've cancelled my credit card. Doubt i'll ever see the goods, but will still have to pay the postage and packing.

Check out this complaints forum http://www.complaintsboard.com/compl...0-c109656.html

Hope you manage to sort it out.

Unhappy Sucks much??

I was also convinced by the promise of fast free weight loss. Like you I only spotted the small print after I'd submitted my details. I now have to cancel my card which iv'only had for about a month, as I live in England and can't get hold of them by phone. I think it's disgusting how they can thrive and make money off of people's insecurities and especially how they claim this trial to be "free" and then charge around £50 each month. I hate to think how many other people have been convinced aswell. Don't people just make you angry??

I didn't think you could simply cancel your card and avoid liability in this sort of situation.

If the Co. is "ACAIBERRY POWER 500" then you can try 001 801 2087490.. I too was sucked in.. and in the process of keeping an eye on my bank to see if my Cancellation has been done successfully (when you get through.. eventually! - they should issue with a cancellation No: but refused to give me an email confirmation, this was described in a Forum I managed to find the number on ).. my bank have stated that as I didnt use my Visa - but used my Debit Card, they would need to wait for the money to be taken out before they could act. They did offer the Cancellation of card, however the stressed this wasnt an absolute definite that the money wouldnt be taken out (dont understand that.. but anyway..).. seemingly I will need to complete a form to state that a "non fraud" type of transaction has been made if they do deduct the first payment.. seesh!

Default Acai Berry

Hi

Has any one found a solution to this "FREE" trial scamming problem?! I too fell for this and sent off for them on 26th October. The postage charge was taken out of my bank account on 28th October but have never received the "FREE" pills. Does this mean I have got away with it or does it mean that I will receive the pills any day soon as the 14 day cancellation period is well over. I stupidly used my bank card and not a credit card, have checked my account thoroughly and they have only taken the postage costs, nothing else and there is no direct debit set up - AS YET!! Am really worried that no one seems to have been able to cancel this and that my bank account will be drained!!! Please advise

I hope that works for you but I fear you will find that just cancelling the card does not cancel any continuous payments set up on it. In fact credit card companies tend to refute any responsibility for any dispute on such arrangements. The general answer is to tell you to contact the company it was set up with. One reason I try to avoid setting up such a thing

That said I have known of instances where if the card is reported lost or stolen all payments from the point it was reported as missing are referred back and continuous payments have to be set up again.

Please see my quick reply above.. I have had a cancellation code issued and as yet no further monies have been taken off. I submitted details on 20/10 and the money £2.36, was taken off 22/10 - and the pills arrived on Wednesday - 12/11/08 - incidentally -although they advertise as 14 day trial - it only gives you 14 pills and you are supposed to take 2 per day.. CON CON CON CON CON!!! (this was already highlighted in an American forum chat room I visited on 20th so I wasnt surprised by this). My bank have advise me to keep checking over next couple of weeks - like yourself I used my Debit card rather than Visa - so this really reduces quick solutions Im afraid.. good luck:rolleyes:

(**answered the last query before I saw this one - sorry!) I had a reference number for my original "free trial" that I had printed off - which is maybe why I had no problem getting a cancellation code.. (it was a confirmation number and also stated that any deductions would show as "NUBODI" - HOWEVER, unless it was exactly the web thread u used.. maybe it would show as a different name on your account - the £2.36 didnt show as NUBODI - all just a mess really.. goood luck

hTo, probably a bit late, but the number you need to call is 001 877 350 8480. It's actually a Utah number! I got through more or less immediately, but was put on hold (tacky music) for about 15 minutes before somebody answered. I gave my details and was given a 7-digit cancellation code. Hopefully, that'll do the trick. I think I was borderline 14 days, though, as so far only $3.95 has come off my CC. I'm actually more annoyed with myself rather than them for not reading the Terms at the bottom of the page, which clearly inform you of what you're letting yourself in for. Valuable lesson learned. Anyway, hope this helps and you didn't get fleeced.

Incidentally, you might also want to have a look here:

I have also made the mistake of siging up for this, I don't know if I have done enough to stop any further payments. So far its just the £2.50 p&p which is what I expected.
The pills arrived today, luckily I read the scrap of paper that came with them, I was horrified, i'm sure there was nothing about the other payments in the terms and conditions. I phoned the number provided 001 877 350 8480, got through, they put the phone down on me almost immediately.
I phoned my credit card company to see what they can do, they have put a total block on my credit card, (at least I can't abuse that for Christmas) and said that the info would be forwarded to their "problems" dept.
I tried the number again got through and this time seem to have cancelled it, I have a seven digit number and the operator's name as reference.
Is there anything else I should do?

Angry acai scam

I have also been conned by this scam. As soon as I realised, I tried phoning the number in America. I got through to a girl who asked for my details and then she put the phone down. After three attempts I cancelled my credit card - it is the only safe way to prevent further payments!

Angry acia scam

i thought i was the only one daft enough to fall for it but obviously not..and in a strange way that gives me a little satisfaction! never the less i was wondering if anyone could tell me how much it cost to phone to florida to cancel.also has anyone tried canceling in writing or via an e-mail. ive written today and if i get any response i will be sure to let you all know, i have also e-mailed my bank to see what they can do
and has anyone actualy verified that the address they've given is a comercial or private one. would be worth looking into as a lot of these scams are one man operated. ive looked on google earth and couldnt find it but my eyes arent that good also tried the bussiness finder for that area but to no avail.
is there no one out there with any kind of "pull" who could investigate on our behalf?
dont know what my husband is gonna say when the money starts dissapearing from our account cos hes about to be "laid off "at work.

yes I thought I was the only stupid person to fall for this scam and should know better. But I, like you, felt almost relieved that so many others have fallen for it too.
I phoned my build Soc (Nationwide) and they have reported my card as stolen and that will stop it.
The phone no. for the company is in Utah.why the hell has this not been stopped over there as there are USA sights reporting this scam?
The money for the P and P came out straight away. I found out too late about having to cancel and have had £60 taken out.
I haven't told my husband either altho' its my account...so he might not find out, but I still feel guilty..........and extremely foolish. read some of the other posts as they advise on how long it takes to get through.
good luck!
