What's it about?

Back in July 06 Bailey started this thread to help all pregnant MoneySavers and their partners save on anything pregnancy-related plus give each other moral support. It's been hugely popular and now has a long list of pregnant mothers-to-be. Now it's not just for those that are pregnant but also those trying to conceive and MoneySavers that have probably already given birth and yet are probably too tired to let everyone know.

What should you do?

As well as being a great source of tips, baby-related bargains spotted, mutual support and help MoneySavers here have also gradually built up a list, adding themselves to one of these categories (the last one, people are moved to for obvious reasons!): If you want to add yourself to the list follow these steps:
  • Click on the link at the top of this page that says "Last" (it'll take you to the last page of the discussion)
  • Scroll down until you find the message with the very latest copy of the list in (if you use one further up the discussion other peoples' changes after that will be lost)
  • Copy that (highlight it and click control+c)
  • Click reply at the bottom of the thread to open a screen where you can past it (click control+p)
  • Add yourself to the list then click save
  • And don't feel shy. Introduce yourself, say hello and ask a question if you need to.
Plus, if you're thinking of how to cut down on nappy costs remember to have a read of the Nappy MoneySaving article too and for later down the line if you need childcare first read the Childcare Vouchers article. Speech-Mark-Right.gif

I've been following the threads on here for the past 9 months now!
Am now one day overdue :-)
Might start on some of the old wives tales for kick starting labour.
  • Morning everyone! I'm considering writing a little letter to my foetus and asking him/her very nicely to stop making me feel !!!!!!. I'm only at 7+3 so still got ages and ages to go!

Got a few questions to answer from the old thread -

Clairejones - I'd wholeheartedly second the recommendation for the Phil & Teds. I had a MacLaren side by side for my youngest two (14 month age gap) and it was terrible, unwieldy and the wheels were only really useful if I was on flat ground which meant trips to the park were nigh on impossible. I'm getting a P&T soon for my toddlers and the eldest will be kicked out to make room for the baby, I tested one out and it was just fantastic.

Cazziej - Could it have been an evaporation line? I had those cheapy pregnancy tests from eBay that test at 10mIU, my SON got a positive on those which I think was just the evaporation lines. I would definitely check it with your Doctor though, as a false positive can sometimes be caused my medical complaints. Better safe than sorry.

ems2 - My belly button popped out at 26 weeks with my first and around 20 weeks with the other two.

shellsuit - I doubt they'd do any harm but there's not much helpful stuff in them. Have you tried a honey & lemon tea or similar? Honey is a great antiseptic :)

happytails - You're very protected as a pregnant employee but I would make sure you tell your line manager at the earliest possible chance when you start because you must have a health and safety assessment done to ensure your working time is safe and comfortable, and not putting you or your baby at risk.

    Morning all :)

Candy - I don't drink at all, I'm glad that isn't something I have to feeling guilty about! Just all the other stuff I did before 12 weeks. Am amazed baby has got this far!

12+6 today, fingers crossed morning sickness will go soon. Am hiring a cleaner because I can't even get in the kitchen without feeling sick.

Got my next scan on Tuesday, all excited! Glad its Tuesday, means I get out of going for lunch with OH and his collegue who I greatly dislike.

Hi FG .DD tried everything for her morning sickness, it's gradually easing off now after 16 weeks(she's 16 weeks today!!)I read the toher day that lemon oil, or smelling a cut lemon smelt eases the sickness, but tbh nothing worked for me either :o:o
Good luck on Tuesday, and get plenty of photos:D

  • Happy Birthday, Candy!!! :bdaycake:

I remember us having the drinking discussion a few weeks ago...

I have had the odd few glasses of wine on special occasions but I'm not a big drinker anyway, and especially not since Poppy was born :D.

Anyone else miffed that this new thread has been 'un-stuck'?.

I'm using a combination of Cyclizine, Prochlorperazine, sea sickness bands, spearmint aromatherapy stuff, apple sweeties, crackers and naps!

    I managed a whole meal yesterday :D

Mum things I'm having a girl. She had really bad sickness with me. I'd much rather have a boy. Don't think OH could cope with two of me in the house!
