Had an electronic letter today from Halifax saying cheque of £38 has been paid but because it took me over my overdraft they are charging me £30 !
Nowhere on my bank statement (online) does it show me going into the red. I ring them and am told that although my online statement doesn't show me going into the red, the money has to be available three days before cheque shows on statement and I would have probably been a couple of quid over then ! Cheeky whatsits ! Anyway, got stroppy and got the charge refunded - on this occassion. Little do they know !!!!!0 -

Stick to your guns, and chances are you will get the full amount (£1734).How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Hi all...
Sent my letter asking for the return of my charges on the 23rd Jan, recieved letter from the Halifax today saying that they'd recieved my letter and that my details have been passed onto "customer relations". They've also given me a "solve it" number and a telephone number to ring if I wish to speak to somebody in the meantime.
What do I do now??...Do I...(a)let it go down the internal customer relations route and see what happens. (b)ring the number and speak to someone and tell them of my plans to take them to court unless they pay up. (c)stick to the timetable as advised by Martin.
Anybody had the same or similar experience?. Would very much like to know what to do for the best.
Cheers...Stuart Keep the faith0 -

Don't be put off by the bank, or let them dictate any schedule to you. Stick to your own timetable at all stages of your claim. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I'm in the same boat as you and have been advised (through this site of course!) to now send the letter advising them I intend to take them to court. I am going to do it next week as my printer has broken down and I've got to write it all out (inc. charges list). We've asked for our money back and they just say "We will contact you but we can't tell you when" or words to that affect. That is NOT a satisfactory answer.
Is this is NOT still the correct procedure I'm sure Rex etc (Wonderpeople  )will let us know. And I'm sure Martin would send out emails if anything changes.
Is there ANYWHERE that we can bank and be fairly treated? Does anyone know?0 -

its a standard letter, you can keep to your timetable, although i didn't send the 2nd letter as the 14 days fell between xmas and new year and i forgot! anyway thought i would await response in their timescale and got offer of 296 on a 314 claim, which i accepted. either way you will get your money!0 -
I rang Halifax customer relations yesterday and said about 2 lots of charges on my account and that it had taken me overdrawn and i wasnt happy about it, The lady on the other end of the phone said 'ok we will levy these charges and they will be put back into your account'.
Checked my account this morning and wooohoooo they are both there! Am now going to get my DHs 6 years worth of statements as im sure we will get a good sum back from them!
Good luck to everyone with their claims. Go for it, it is our money after all!Love is all around! :rotfl:

Hi guys,
Sent my DPA letter on 17th Jan, received statements 25th Jan. Went through them yesterday and my charges on my Halifax credit card amount to £1113 on a balance on £1150! If you include interest they owe me more than I owe them (1298) on my entire account! What a rip off, sent my claim letter yesterday so fingers crossed.0 -

I need some guidance please
I started my court claim on moneyclaimonline 2 days ao fro £1488.83 (including inertest). Surprise, surprise I’ve just had a phone call from a very nice lady at Halifax offering me £1,253.00 as a ‘goodwill gesture’ (full amount minus interest). I explained that I’d already started court proceedings but she said that that they would not pay my court costs of £120 so I’m unsure what to do.
Should I decline the offer when it arrives in the post and continue to claim through moneyclaimonline for the full amount including interest and my court costs back? I spoke to someone at moneyclaimonline who said Halifax do have to pay my court costs and should I continue with my claim I should be awarded the full amount. Should I take the money they have offered and accept I won’t be getting my £120 + interest back or reject their offer and continue with my claim?
(I also had a letter this morning from Ikano Finance offering me £70 (half of my claim) but I have rejected this and sent my 2nd letter asking for full amount or I will commence court processings)
Thanks
morning misskitty
Hope your okay.
I would keep the ball rolling. Seems you have also done your homework on the courts side and as they stated, "they must pay the 120.00". I would keep going.
Let us know the outcome:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0
