How does one get free Boots eye test? (from Boots health insurance provided by PruHealth). It is advertised here:

If you're continuing with the policy don't be fooled into thinking that you no longer have to go twice a week. If you want platinum status you need to go a minimum of 1.5 times per week to get the 2,000 points and that's if you do all the other ways of earning points. If you only earned points going to the gym you would need to go to the gym almost 4 times a week.0

10% of last year's points = 200
Fitness assessments X 2 = 600
Education section = 400
Meal plan = 100
Total 1300.
We need gym 70 times = about 1.4 times a week.0 -
Here's a pricing for Cannons gym from Nov. (I assume it's for the ones outside M25?)
Bronze £42 a month (alongside your pru health insurance)
Silver £30 a month.
Gold £14 a month.
Platinum Free
Once you reach platinum status, the gym membership will remain free for the rest of that year, and the following year. If you maintain platinum throughout your policy life, the gym membership will continue to be completely free.0 -

Example, for virgin tier 1, and access for local club only:
If at bronze will pay 50 per month
If at silver, pay 38
If at gold, pay 22
If a platinum, pay 8
These are on top of your normal premiums. All payments will be calculated based on your status at the beginning of the month, then debited from your account at the end of the month.
However, once you reach platinum status, the gym membership will remain at that rate for the rest of that year, and the following year. If you maintain platinum throughout your policy life, the gym membership will continue to be at that rate.
Just to add, for Virgin tier 2, add 7pounds to all the above prices.
So
bronze is 57
silver is 45
gold is 29
platinum is 150 -

im new to this, wondering if anyone can help me out....
I have a Cannons near me, but its pretty extortionate so I googled for ways to get a cheap membership, and found this pru loophole.
I am planning to join, and phoned them but the girl wasn't very clear so I just left it unti I knew a bit more.
I plan to join, and will go 2-3 times a week.
How much will it cost me in total? Cannons near me is £42 off peak / £59 peak.0 -
I wondered when Pruhealth would change the pricing policy, grr
I am just coming up to my second year with them, and have through a lot of hard work managed to get to Platinum level. Thus my gym (Virgin Active) is increased from just £5 to £8.
With my annual policy being renewed this year at £95, actual gym cost still works out at £16, which is -significantly- cheaper than going direct. Plus of course I have health insurance
Still - it seems you really do have to make sure you are getting platinum status to make all this worthwhile.
I wouldn't recommend this Pruhealth deal to anyone but those who are *sure* they can keep up regular gym attendance for a whole year and remember to complete fitness assessments etc.0 -
It seems to me that it will improve flexibility (and in most cases not increase costs) for customers going into their second or subsequent policy year, but will screw new customers who aren't yet up to Platinum.
I am already paying £25 a month for the gym as I'm registered with City branch of Cannons which is the premium club (and includes multi clubs membership). I'm almost on Platinum, with my policy due to renew in October, and the Pruhealth online calculator for the new structure is still quoting me £25 from November, so it doesn't change my gym costs at all (though I'm really looking forward to the anniversary discount on my premium!)
It will work out very well for me, because at the moment I would like to be getting more of my points from Fitbug and fewer from the gym (walking is much easier to fit into everyday life than going to the gym!) but I find myself having to go to the gym even when I'm ridiculously busy just to keep my number of visits up... I will find it much easier to build up Vitality points under the new system.Operation Get in Shape
