you are taking the michael when you say you don't work for 02. If you don't then you ar just obssesed with them.

hehe.. Nice to hear from you Tom!! I had a funny feeling you were going to come back on and say something after I wrote that :)

I also have noticed that there recruiting for customer service staff in the local papaer - hmm wonder how much they will pay me.... :)

1 am on the 100 mins + 100 txts paying £25 a month. I am due for renewal in a few weeks so I phoned them up yesterday seeing what they would offer.

They said I could have 200 mins and 100 txts for £15 a month plus a free handset - I am currently using a Sony P910i and do not see anything better on the market at this time so instead of taking a phone, they have credited my account with £100 so that should give me nearly 7 months of free use.

Does anyone think this is a bad deal? I am pretty pleased with what they have offered - they must be desperate to keep customers.

John, I have recently renewed my contract. Kept my phone so they credited £100 to my account. However, they have given me 200 mins & 500 texts for £15. Try and see if they can give you a bit more.

Thanks to reading through this thread I got a deal I'm more than happy with. 750 anytime minutes and 750 texts for £30 a month, plus a free 6280.

I called retentions and told them I was going to T-mobile, that was all it took.

I will have to ring o2 next month as my cheap contract is coming to an end, 750 mins anytime any network and a new "Samsung D500 a year ago" for £15.00 a month.
Has anyone been on this and got just as a good deal on there next contract.I don't need any text just the mins.
I did see an offer for the new flex T-mobile contract for 900 anytime, any network mins and a new phone on offer for £25.00 but its for an 18 month contract, only on offer until the end of the month.

I'd say this is a bad deal. I got exactly the same as ukauctions did. 200 mins and 500 txts for £15 per month. I also didn't take a handset and got £100 credit. I'd call back and say that you need more txts and mins and if they can't help you then you are going to move networks.

  • It worked great for me. I called today and asked for a PAC code straight away – make sure you select cancel contract and not upgrades when calling – she asked me why and I said I’ve found a much better deal on T Mobile and I was sick of my high phone bills. I quoted an offer I saw for T Mobile, £35 a month for £180 credit but the first 12 months free. She asked if it was ok if she put me on hold to see what she could do for me I said sure. After a couple of mins she came back with £20 a month for 750 mins and 750 texts on an 18 month contract. I said I wasn’t comfortable on such a long contract and she offered the same for £25 a month 12 months. I don’t need that many minutes so she offered 500 mins and 500 texts for £20 on a 12 month contract or £15 on a 18 month contract. She had said earlier that is was my text messaging that was pushing my bill up, I said I was concerned about this so she added another 100 texts. I chose £20 a month for 500 mins & 600 texts, my minutes will roll over each month and I can choose whatever phone I want. I was going to go for the Nokia 6280 but it’s out of stock so I asked about other Nokias and there are two new ones coming out in May, the N80 & N91 and I can have either of those if I like. I’ll have to wait until late May for it but I think it’s worth the wait for the best phone I can get. She was very helpful and friendly and happy to answer all my questions. I am a high user with bills around £70 a month so some people might have to work harder to get these deals, I didn’t need to push much at all. Very happy in the end, I don’t need to change providers and go through the hassle of porting my number.

This thread is brilliant, and its great to here of so many people getting some brilliant deals from O2. Heres my dilema....

I am currently on the online 50 (old one before it chagned) and get 50 x net min and 500 texts for £19.00 (last years offer has just ended)

I want the new nokia 6280 which they are offering free if you sign up as a new customer.

Rang today and the guy said that he could give me 200 x net min and 500 texts for £15 per month but the lowest he could sell me the phone for was £50.00. I said that I wanted time to consider it and would phone back.

Do you guys think that there is any chance that I can get the cost of the phone down anymore - he went away and spoke to his manager who said that £50 was the lowest they could let me have the phone for.

Most other places will give the phone for free but will charge alot more on the monthly line rental.

    What do people think?

Phoned back this morning and said that I still wanted to leave O2. I said that I did not need 200 x net minutes per month, so she offered me 100 x net work minutes and 500 texts for £10 per month. Still have to pay for the nokia 6280 (£50) but worked out the total cost of my mobile phone contract is now £170 for the year, so I am pleased with that.

Not bad considering I am not a massive spender with O2. Saved a further £60 over the year on my second call. Many many thanks to whoever started this thread - it is truely brilliant!!!

  • Well I've just got off the phone to retentions and I'm more than happy with the deal I've been offered. I was on the online 50 contract @ £19.56 per month but always went slightly over the minutes so I was aiming for more. I was offered a reasonable deal for 18 months but I said that I was only interested in a 12 month contract so he told me that I could get the same contract for £15 a month. I told him that I'd seen the Vodafone 125 contract which has 125 x-net mins and 250 txts per month for £20 so he told me that now I'd mentioned this he was able to work a bit harder for me. (Ooo err :S)
Anyways, he came back with the online 100 contract @ £15 per month with £100 credit so effectively the first 7 months are free. I inquired about 'upgrading' my current SE K750 but was told that the W810 is identical and not really an upgrade and that the 6280 has now been recalled by Nokia for reliability issues. Was more than happy with the offer of £100 credit so I've taken them up on it. Only had to phone once and I'm more than happy with the contract I've got. Cheers to everyone that informed us of the opportunity to get a better contract in the first place. I wouldn't have known that it was possible to haggle otherwise and I'm very grateful that you can!!
