I added the latest Orange firmware to the M2000 last week. It now has Windows Media Player 10. It is still Windows Mobile 2003. There are unofficial Windows Mobile 5.0 versions available but I haven't heard any good reasons to upgrade yet. Before you buy Google Nest or British Gas Hive check out ESPproMon the Android and iOS Smartphone app that helps you build the same system from just £30.0 -
You're right about 3g unlimited tariffs, especially roaming, and they ought to head south. Sorry, I'm not up to the mark on how much bandwidth VoIP uses - is it around a MB/min or can it be restricted? I read somewhere that someone tried a GSM codec and this limited the bandwidth use, but I don't know what it was like.0

I know even less about the bandwidth. Virtually all our calls in the house are via VOIP so I could check. In fact the PAP2 units we use record (temporarily) the data from the last outgoing call (number, time and bytes etc). My memory tells me 8K per second which is 0.5mb/min. Could be it takes 2 channels (in & out) which would give 1mb/min.Before you buy Google Nest or British Gas Hive check out ESPproMon the Android and iOS Smartphone app that helps you build the same system from just £30.0 -
Bert_Anderson wrote:I've been using the voipcheap/buster products for a good number of months now trouble free.
I have found some issued with the service and Tiscali though...
I can use Voipcheap most days but then all of a sudden I cannot access the webpage or log in to my account and use the voip service
The strange thing is that all of my friends who use Tiscali have the same problem at the same times I cannot access both the website and the program.
If I ask one of my non-Tiscali friends to access the webpage then they can go in no problem at all.
I emailed Tiscali about this and I've generally been given a load of hogwash in reply to my query.
I'm just wondering if they do this because they want you to take up their call bundle offer?
I never have any problems with connection to the Voipbuster website or program though...any ideas?
And me. I thought it was my Firewall, antispy, antivirus, anti IE, antispam etc, etc.
Never thought it might be anti TISCALI. I have had very intermitent connection to voipcheap website, including going at it via Google search and clicking on various links..
So no phone.
Of course, if you cannot get onto their site you cannot ask (even if they ever replied)
Any other servers with troubles???????????????0 -
Does anyone know if it is possible to set an answering machine with Voipcheap when your PC is turned off?0

Not if you use software, they don't have voicemail.
If you had an ATA then you could attach an answering machine as you would a normal phone line. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

It looks like it would do the job, but I'd recommend the LinkSys PAP2.

Though it has gone up a few pounds, since when I got mine, due to short supply, due to popularity.
At one time you could buy the £19.99 one locked to Vonage and unlock it, but they have wised up, and it now seems people are unable to unlock the Vonage ones. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Cheers.
I might go for this one though as I can get it fairly cheap via a trade account:

Unless it is a much inferior model than the LinkSys
