Has anyone successfully configured their Pocket PC for WiFi Voip?

I have been looking at Woize and SJPhone but can only get incoming audio at present. Woize appears to be quite crude but SJPhone has numerous configuration settings and looks much more professional.

SJPhone has configuration files that can be downloaded for Stanaphone & FWDialup etc. I am trying to use Sipdiscount (voipbuster) and Sipgate.

After several days (maybe weeks) I configured a PAP2 with Sipdiscount (out) and Sipgate (in) but no joy yet with the Pocket PC.

I am using an Orange SPV M2000 and would be interested if anyone has the configuration details.

Might give Skype's Pocket PC version a try.

Using Orange SPV M500 (or whatever its called!!) I also tried it on my old Ipaq 1940. With both using a Sandisk wireless card.

Using on my wireless network at home.

There have been reports in general that Skype for Pocket PC is not that good:

Thanks for the review, not exactly glowing but it was 8 months ago. The M2000 has bulit in WiFi which I am hoping is better than the SD cards. I thought I had read that the WiFi cards didn't work. That was the reason I bought the M2000. I already had the E100, 2 off E200's and a C500.

The M2000 also comes with 2 batteries as standard so I will run it at full power. Might even try the oveclocking software that now exists. I have installed Skype to SD data card at the moment as the Pocket PC is a bit full . May transfer to internal storage if this helps.

Off to Tenerife next week so I am hoping to have it up and running before then (fingers crossed). I will post an update on my return.

Anyone used official or unffocial WiFi in Playa De Las Americas? A google search only found WiFi in the north of the island at Santa Cruz.

not me, but there is an Xten Pocket PC version

    - I think you might have to buy it though ($30)

If you can get VoIP going via 3g that would be interesting

I tried it very recently and the quality was poor! However I think it will improve esp due to the Skype and 3 partnership.

Skype worked virtually first time (unlike Woize and SJPhone which are a pain to setup). Obviously Skype is the major player and their charges reflect this.

Mobiles are about 16p / minute (not really cheap by today's standards) but landlines are only 1.5p / minute. Remembering this is the cost irrespective of where you are dialling from, SO Tenerife to UK landline will still be 1.5p (plus WiFi 'cost').

Obviously if your friends and family also have Skype there is no cost at all.

Call quality was really quite good and DTMF also worked first time which is always a good test (if a machine can decipher the precise DTMF signal you have sent your mates should be able to understand what you are saying).

I installed latest Qtek 9090 version (Blue Angel / M2000) to the memory (not card) and haven't needed to overclock the chip yet. Admittedly it was via ActivSync (which many systems don't appear to support) to my laptop. Laptop has WiFI to 2mb broadband and Skype got through the firewall without any problems.

Early days but very pleased with initial tests. I now have a possible replacement for cheap mobile calls when Orange pull the plug on the inclusive (free) 0800 calling card bundle in about 9 months time. Maybe Woize and SJPone will also have working systems by then.

The software looks quite good. If the trials go ok with Skype I may dump them and try the Xten as ultimately I want free calls not cheap calls.

At under 20 quid it looks like it's worth a try. when you pay nothing for the software (Woize and SJPhone) you often get nothing in return. 12 hours trying to set up Woize & SJPhone does have a cost if not a direct financial one.

Don't really fancy a fixed cost of £50/month for unlimited 3G access. Although it might be much cheaper when it starts to compete with WiFi etc.

Stabilo, thanks for the update. I may try upgrading the firmware on my spv and give it another go. Also looked at XTen, looks interesting.
