On a slightly different topic,Nationwide sent me a card reader a year ago(i do have a Nationwide card)but i don't need to use it to access my account online,so it's just gathering dust.
With Nationwide, I only need to use the reader when I transfer money to other Nationwide flexaccounts. For example, when I had to transfer money to my wifes flexaccount.
I just tried amending a payment - no card reader required.
I tried to set up a new payee. That's when the site told me I needed a card reader. I phoned Tesco Finance who confirmed this but I was able to use online banking for the transaction as I couldn't wait for the card reader to arrive. It's been 14 days and has not yet arrived. Will see if it comes tomorrow (day 15) and if not I'll chase it.
Just tried that now - that's when it asks me to order a card reader. It might have been a good idea to send us one automatically rather than wait until we need to add a payee!
