Written to LLoyds asking for details of any accounts i have,(all accounts closed a few years ago) and i have just missed delivery of a letter or parcel today sent via DHL couriers. Is this normal for them to reply recorded? I sent my letter recorded too.
  • This is the very twee letter I received from them.
    Dear xxx
I am sorry you are unhappy about your ac charges.
Like any business we do make a charge for some of our xtra services. When customers don't have enough in their acc's to cover a payment, this always means extra work, and has to happen quickly. We have to agree to make the payment by setting up or increasing an overdraft, or tell customers we cannot agree it.
Of course it is only fair too, that we are completely open about any charged for services before you might need them. Thats why we take care to give every new customer the latest guide to our charges (I've been with LLOYDS for the best part of 20 years and never received any such thing!)You can also get up to date details about fees and borrowing rates at all our branches, through our helpline and on our website.
Just as importantly we do everything we can to help our customers avoid these charges. You can get an up to date balance enquiry at any of our cash machines,,over the phone, on line or by text.
If you know a payment is going to take you over your agreed limit you are welcome to see if there is anything we can do....(yeah right - offer me a loan at extortionate rates!)
The OFT has published new guidelines on credit card default charges ???(very odd I never asked about these?)We're still talking it through with them, but the important point is that the guidelines are about "default" charges that people pay when they break an agreement with us. This does not apply to your Charges as these were for dealing with your request to go over your agreed overdraft limit. Theny are not default charges because you have not broken your agreement. They are our prices for the service we provide in these situations.
I understand that you may also have some concerns about us sharing your information with credit reference agencies we use, I'd like to re-assure you that this does not apply to bank charges, only white data payments to credit card, loan or mortgage acs.
I do hope that you can see that we make our charging as fair as possible and why I cannot agree to cancel your charges.
    Referred me to Ombudman etc.,

I EXPECTED THIS RESPOONSE FROM LLOYDS AND WONDERED IF THERE IS ANYONE MORE IN THE KNOW THAN ME WHO CAN HELP ME TO CONSTRUCT A LETTER BACK...ARE THEY RIGHT? I COULD GIVE UP

    many thanks

Very Very disappointed LLOYDS TSB Customer!

    QUESTION!!!

Can you claim back Overdraft Usage fee? Lloyds charged me £25 a month for ages when my account was laying dormant and i was just paying the OD off £50 a month. I wasn't even over my overdraft... seems like a punitive charge to me....

Got EXACTLY same letter this week from LTSB - sounds like rubbish reply - press on! I am - moneyclaim ready to go!

There's charges, and there is 'reasonable charges' - which is why we have the chance to ask for the unreasonable charges back.......
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.
  • I had exactly the same letter too! I begain MCOL and the following day they put £680 in my account. They also said they would defend the claim. Had to wait for 28 days and they didn't defend the claim so I have won by default. This happened yesterday and today I have paid to issue a warrant so that if they don't payup the bailifs go in.
Don't be put off by this - keep going and hopefully you'll win. Ive claimed nearly £3000 back! Use the template letters on the website.

I had exactly the same thing through my door yesterday!!!!! As someone else said, there's charges and there's unreasonable charges!!!

They're getting the second letter telling them I still want my money back (and they have the cheek to add another £125 next month as well!).

Depends...was it an agreed monthly fee for having the benefit of the overdraft (ie you paid it every month whatever) or was it a penalty for entering overdraft status ? (ie. you only incurred the fee if you went into overdraft).

    second one you can claim.

  • Just started the process of claiming off LTSB, now ive not been a customer for just over 2 years but I know I can still claim back for the previous 4years (ie last 6 years).
I got a letter yesterday from LTSB stating that as I no longer have an account with them they have no records of mine,

"but please send a copy of your statement so we can check against our files"

and as this is the case it may take a "long time to track down any details"

funny.. I thought they never had them??

anyway, sent new letter off today with a copy of an old statement and
re-stated my acc. no. and sort code. also stating that they had 40 days
(as template letter, thx Martin) from the 1st March, when I sent my first letter.

I'll keep updating as I hear more,

Other than that has anyone claimed off an account they have previously closed down? and won?

    Many thanks
