Fingers crossed...
Just rang home and managed to get stroppy teenage daughter to reset modem - now my NJP connection log has shown up with a "Start Packet" ; looks promising.
Stroppy teenage daughter "didn't have time" to switch laptop on to validate though (not normally in hurry to get back to school!)... :rolleyes:0 -
I'm back on broadband service :j
I was just about to go out and pay £19.98 for an ethernet/USB adapter so I could use the router RedTen supplied....
Didn't have to change any settings on my speedtouch modem except the new username.
I just wish they had told me yesterday that I hadn't been connected yet. My account at NJP showed line activated 18/3/08 and reply to my ticket said I was definately connected and to contact RedTen...but what's another day of frustration
I've cancelled my AOL broadband order - as I don't feel up to a legal wrangle with RedTen/Clode.
Thanks to all you guys for your help and support on this thread.0 -
Only taken half an hour to get through this time, must be less people phoning! Am now waiting for the manager.0

Manager too busy to speak to me at the moment! He'll phone me before 2pm, heard that one before!!!0

First off - thanks go to everyone posting all this good (yet ridiculous!) info
I'm still not reconnected. that said, the ADSL light on the modem is green... which has to be good right :rotfl:
I've had no letter - but then I did move house last year so I'm not convinced RedTen would have updated their records. they were more than happy to take the money needless to say.
I cannot log in to the fast4 / NJP user area using my user name and password though which looks ominous i.e. I've not been transferred. But, like I said, my ADSL light is green so I'll cling on to that small glimmer of hope that at least something has been done.
My first port of call I think is to contact NJP. By the sounds of things there's no point trying RedTen unless it's a matter of life and death. Looking back through the thread there seems to be 2 numbers for NJP: 0870 225 1058 and 0871 424 0185. Is either number better for getting through? I'm at work so really can't sit on the phone for overly long.
Also, has anyone who had a static IP address been reconnected and did the address change? I guess this would all be in the letter...0 -

almillar, let us know how you get on with you credit card company.
All I get at NJP is the recorded message saying call again later:mad: Currently on hold with Redten0 -

i've been trying 0871 424 0185 and get recorded message. Will try other one now. I also moved last year so that might explain missing letter - although my mail is supposed to be forwarded
Is your username quite long? - the box on the NJP site won't fit all mine in. Apparently people with letters got a log-in number to use.0 -
NJP customer services keeps on going up up up in my opinion. Keep speaking to the same guy and he's cheerful and helpful and knows what he's talking about.
Something interesting that came out of the conversation is that he is sure that it is a limited service (although that shouldn't make any difference to us, just Redten will have to pay for the extra). He also said that as far as he knows their director has not made a comment to theregister saying that the service is unlimited. More interestingly he said that their director is not called Peter Kaye (the comedian, as theregister have quoted him), his name is apparently Steve Kaye, make of that what you will but it does seem rather fishy to me!
Anyway, he also confirmed again that Redten have lied to me about my details having been passed on. According to Redten they've passed my full details on at last but NJP say they still haven't received the full details and they can see from their system that I haven't been registered directly by Redten as that is another option open to them.
Will see what the manager has to say for himself if he ever phones me.0 -
Call the 0870 number with njp, answer within about 3 mins. Fantastic people.

Just spoke to Paul at NJP who regretably informed me that my details have not been passed on. He was very apologetic and mentioned that he had heard that Redten's own customer service had been "difficult to get hold of" at the moment. He also said that Redten had been given access to a portal(?) where they could transfer customer details over0
