The baby's movements only ever get stronger, except towards the end I've found you get more squirming and stretching and lurching than the prods and kicks you get earlier on. Mine's breech (still) so can't report on the joys of kicked ribs, but boy do I need to know where the nearest toilet is at all times - full force of a big baby's heel in my bladder is a serious test of the old pelvic floor muscles! The worst bit is when it tries to tuck its head up under my ribs - if I sit forward or bend you can feel it grinding on my sternum, makes me want to puke _pale_ ... it's all nice though, and I will miss it.

As for hiccups - mine has them all the time and you can watch my belly bounce with each one! :rotfl:

mine gets hiccups loads - often as I'm just trying to get comfy

and the kicking is less but the movement is more and more pronounced - instead of kicking now he just lies there with a foot pushed under my ribs or in my side and seems to think that counterpressure means he should push harder  so as soon as I try to push him to somewhere more comfy for me it becomes a battle of wits :D I'm sure he's doing star fish impressions too as I can now feel him at every corner of my bump at the same time. He definitely doesn't like being squashed so I'm having to limit my time on the computer or I end up leaning back with my hands at full reach :rotfl:

Thankfully he's not on my bladder too much but in some ways I'd prefer that to the rib pain so I can't wait for his head to engage (just wait a few weeks till it does and I'm asking for the rib pain back :D )

And yes sometimes it hurts! In an 'ouch !!!!!!' kind of way as well as the aches of sore ribs and pressure against soft flesh pain.

I don't mind nighttime feeds... as long as I can have the days off!

And this is all normal yes? I was having a right panic attack a few days ago, wanting hubby to reassure me that I'll survive this whole pregnancy/childbirth experience. It just all got to me! It's better not to think about these things on a day to day basis...

    Hi Guys.

Counting pennies, glad you are ok. How are the rest of you?

I am not sleeping at all well now. I get to sleep fine but wake to go the loo and then start panicking, with all sorts of negative thoughts going through my head. Then i get back to sleep as one of the kids wakes up. Baby doesn't kick me of a night so that doesn't help in some ways as i have to prod him/her to make sure he/she still there.

I had both of the others on a Thursday so wonder if this is why I haven't had this one yet- please let it be tomorrow!

Other two have been little sods, whinging etc. I just couldn't handle it this morning and we were all crying together.

Re: hiccups. I have had that with all three, gets very irritating when it goes on for long time but nice to know they are there without getting kicked too much!

Jen, you're still here. :) Hope tomorrow's the day then - at least you didn't have it on your little girl's birthday!

And no wonder your other two are whinging - they can sense all the frustration! I know my DS has been playing up recently - I think he can sense things are about to change very soon.

I don't know what the deal is with hiccups and why some babies get them and some don't. I obviously produce hiccupy ones for some reason :rotfl:

Saw the MW today - everything's fine. I was wondering though, I have not had my bump measured once in this pregnancy - why is that? With DS, they always got the old tape measure out at every appointment. Are they just more cautious with first babies? Or have things changed in 4 years? Or is it just the fact that my MW is so experienced, she can tell that my bump looks the right size by just looking at it? Does everyone else get measured?

Hope all is well today, CountingPennies. Take it easy! x

My baby (GIRL!) does not have a set pattern with the movement business. I often have a glass of fizzy pop and lie down to encourage some activity! DH thinks I'm just lazy :rotfl:Sometimes she kicks that hard that it feels as though I'm on the Big Dipper!!! Anyone else or just me?! :o

Fingers X'd for you, Jenpoptab! Can't be much longer now before you meet your baby x

My MW doesn't like the bump measuring business. I was measuring 3 weeks ahead of where I should be, but the MW said not to worry as it was such an inprecise science and it should be stopped. It didn't stop me worrying that I was going to have an 11lber though.

Maybe your MW is so convinenced it is a pointless exercise she just doesn't do it, either that our your health service has stopped it because it doesn't add anything to your care, but just causes worry for no reason.

I have been practicing as a MW since 1994, and have never used a tape measure yet. Hands are much better, and you have to use them for an abdominal examination anyway. I always smile when the junior Drs get their tape measures out - I would much rather rely upon my hands and eyes than a tpae measure!
