Hi, I found out I am pregnant this week. I've come to terms with it however my partner is rather upset as we intended to buy a better house before wedding and children. I don't know how to console him. Will he ever cheer up and stop mentioning what a disaster it is?

we too wanted better house and car beofre children - plus we wanted me to actually have a job and be earning a wage (im a student nurse on a bursary) at least you have a house, with the housing market today would be hard if you didnt have a place of our own!

im sure he will get used to the idea and be over the moon

a baby is a blessing xx

Congratulations Ella! :j Of course your partner will come round to the idea! My pregnancy was planned and we've had our fair share of wobbles along the way and it took weeks to sink in - like Emma says it is a blessing, once the shock has worn off!

    Thank you all very much.
Actually situation improved slightly in the last hour; he's stopped crying! I'm hoping this an indication of what will turn out to be joy.
Unfortunately, we booked our holiday to Mexico for partner's 30th birthday (Oct) three weeks ago. It was going to be a highly social, alcohol induced holiday. Luckily the second week is planned to be a more relaxed affair.
Got to start saving immensly as I'm self employed. I imagine it will be slightly easier now that I won't be out drinking most weekends. Small price to pay though in the long run.

Congratulations, Ella! Even with my planned pregnancy it was still an OMG moment! It takes time to sink in and I'm sure your partner's shock will soon turn into delight.

Take care of yourself and don't forget the folic acid!

Oh, Fac, just look at your son! :j And he's going to be a star before he's even born!!!

I just knew you would love the experience just as much as I did and I'm so glad it was booked for today and gave you that boost of reassurance you needed.

I had my 28w check today and heard babe's heartbeat again - if I had my way I would be hooked up to that contraption 24/7 :rotfl:

Fac, oh your son is just [STRIKE]beautiful[/STRIKE] handsome.

If I have a girl, he is spoken for, okay ?

And Ella, congratulations. We weren't planning on this pregnancy, and DH and I barely said 3 words to each other for days after I found out. We were in shock.

However, DH has come round (although he wasn't as bad as you describe)

Be sure to add yourself to our growing list

Ella- congratulations. I'm sure all will be ok. Like the others said it is a shock even if planned.

September baby- It's lovely hearin g the heartbeat isn't it. I only heard it at my 36 week check up.

Off to midwife in a little while, I am really nervous about having the sweep, am planning on taking spare knickers as I read that there might be some mild bleeding afterwards.

I am feeling the most optimistic I have felt for a week or so. I had a much better nights sleep. I fell asleep at 9.30 on sofa, went to bed at 10, got up only once in the night for the loo- probably because I had my last drink at 8pm.

Anyway take it easy, have a good day.

Fac that pcdi is wonderful. So glad you enjoyed and are feeling better. Having ours was one of the most amazing experiences every and after such a crappy pregnancy to date it made it all worthwhile. Hope you continue to feel reassured now.

I went to the TENS clinic yesterday so I can start using my TENS for pain relief on my hips and pelvis as I'm still unable to take any co-codomol becuase of the sickness. I had it on for 3 hours yesterday and from 10pm until 2am and the pain does seem better, but that could also have been from the ydrotherapy I had on Wednesday, we see on Sunday when the Hydro usually wears off by.

I also saw my MW who has unfortunately said even though baby has started to engage it's unlikely I'm going to be early, which my mum and dad are pleased by as their off to Germany for 5 nights on 16 July and don't want to miss the arrival of their first Grandchild.

I had a slight amount of glucose in my urine yesterday, but MW thinks this was because I had a glass of squash before peeing. I also packed my hospital bag last night and made sure we had bought everything we need and suddenly have a long list of things we've forgotten or need more off. So much for being organised weeks ago!!

Jen Fingers crossed your sweep gets you started today.

ANyone heard from Eels - wondering how her procedure went yesterday and if we now have another baby on the given birth list!!

I'm here, I'm here *rubs eyes blearily* ... no baby, and it's my first proper day of maternity leave = sleeping in!

Firstly congrats to Fac on a fab scan - gorgeous piccy! So glad you're feeling better. And I've got everything crossed for you today jen, here's hoping the sweep gets you rolling.

Yesterday was not a good day. Aside from the fact that OH and I seemed to get up in a bad mood with each other (not helpful, ended in tears!) the ECV was a complete non-starter. The CTG traces they did (to check baby was fit and well before and after fiddling with it) were spot-on, and baby is fine, but when the consultant tried to turn it it just wouldn't budge. He had his fingers dug so deep into my pelvis I thought my eyes were going to pop out (he consoled me by saying it was making his thumb hurt!) but baby just wasn't having it, there was no movement at all.

So it's decided - my baby's birthday will be 24th July by section. It wasn't a huge surprise but it didn't stop me having a breakdown when I went to bed and poor exhausted OH having to cuddle me for an hour while I blew bubbles out my nose and whimpered about how scared I am. I know that's ridiculous but it's a horrid combination of disappointment, fear, lack of control over my destiny and worry that there's a 'bad' reason for baby's determination to be breech. And 2 and a half weeks seems like such a long time to be worrying about all this stuff!

Anyway, never mind my moaning. I'm off to rearrange the list and repost it with my new date. Then I think I might eat some cake. :o
