The only time my bump's been measured was when I saw a GP around 20 wks about some pain I'd been having. None of the midwives or the consultant have ever bothered - they just write "fundus = dates" on my notes. I think if the baby's moving well, has a good heartrate and scans give no reason for concern there's probably not much to be gained from measurements. As someone already said, plenty enough to be worrying about!0

hi girls!
we had our scan today, it went really well, everything was fine and baby even waved at us!
got some good pics too, (will get them online eventually so you can have a peek)
we both thought we saw boys bits but they dont tell you around here... *humpf*
now we just have to wait til a month today for the 4d scan to fnd out for definate
I love scans, all the heartburn, sleepless nights, throwing up, extreme tiredness etc all get forgotten when you see your baby swimming about and you remember how in love you are with your tiny person!0 -
I almost hate to post, it sounds so self indulgent but I'm getting myself really upset.
I am 26 weeks and just not feeling what everyone else seems to, or what the books say.
I get a few little kicks a few times a day and that's it. Nothing big, no visible movment (my bump has 'wobbled' a couple of times but nothing major).
I can't tell what I'm feeling (hand or foot) there's nothing near my ribs, the odd bit of pressure around my bladder (or so it feels) but again nothing major.
I am not overweight, I thought that could have an effect, but I was a size 14 pre-pregnancy and am in 14 maternity stuff so don't think I've put on much weight that isn't baby-related.
I have a 4d scan tomorrow and instead of looking forward to it and being excited, I am worried that something will be wrong.0 -
oh Fac please dont worry,
is this your first baby? that can make all the difference, what im feeling this time is a huge difference to what i could feel at this stage with my first... i still had practically nothing at 20 - 25 weeks but this time im getting booted to bugg@ry!
and i wouldnt pay too much attention to the baby books, they are basically just a rough guideline on the general stages, each pregnancy is different (trust me!!) each baby is different and NONE of them have read the books!
they do what they want when they want.... and there is nothing we can do but wait and worry!! (welcome to being a mum)
enjoy your scan, it will be an amazing experience,
i had my anomaly scan today and the baby was doing loads of moving about that i couldnt feel, which really surprised me because i can feel kicks from the outside all the time... so it just goes to show they can do it if they want.... (kids are stubborn)0 -
fac don't worry about it I didn't feel things like that at 26 weeks either - as baby gets bigger you'll feel it all and trust me the longer baby stays away from your ribs the better! I'm only 6 weeks ahead of you but all baby's done in those 6 weeks is grow. You'll be amazed how quickly it all changes.0
-
Thanks guys, I don't know what came over me, I just burst into tears at the computer... OH has basically said what you both have (except that he hasn't had previous pregnancies
) and that I'm to stop worrying. I just get struck by fear because I wonder how I would know if something was wrong - and without wanting to be miss misery, I still cannot help thinking, surely I cannot be this lucky - my life is one where things go wrong, not so right like this.
I am taking myself off to bed and try to be grateful that I can sleep through (loo breaks aside) - for now.
Thanks again - don't know what I'd do without this thread.0 -
Hope you're feeling better, Fac. Sometimes I think those books do us more harm than good! I remember feeling absolutely distraught that I didn't have that line going from my belly button that I had read about. Of all the things to worry about...!!! In my previous post I said I often have a fizzy drink and lie down so I can feel baby move just to check she is OK as I read 'most' women find a pattern - I still can't
I had my 4D scan on Monday and I assure you it will be the most amazing experience ever (until your babe is born!). I was so reassured to see my baby had eyes, ears, nose, mouth, arms, legs, fingers, toes... :rotfl:Have a fantastic time tomorrow and let us know how you get on.

Oh Fac! Please don't get yourself worried - what you described is pretty much what I experienced back at 26 weeks. I'm 11 weeks ahead so a lot has changed for me in that time, but I don't think I saw any major regular belly-wobbles until I was nearer to 30 weeks. As for a pattern - my baby's pattern disappeared after around 32 weeks! Now it just does as it pleases and sod mummy! I'm sure there's nothing wrong at all - try your best to enjoy it!
Today's my big day - last chance saloon for lazy breech baby to turn. I have an ECV booked this afternoon and I'm starting to get the flutterbies in my tum! Doesn't help that everyone seems convinced it's going to start labour off and I'll be coming home with a baby ... :eek:0 -
Fac. It's so easy to worry. I have been for the last week and have prodded myself silly at 3- 5am!
Eels- hope that the baby moves for you. Maybe you will get your baby before me.
I had rough night again woke at 3.30ish for an hour then DD2 got up at 5.30am, so I have been weeping on and off. She is getting me in good practice for new baby.
Not looking forward to the thought of the sweep tomorrow but I hope that it works. Anyone had one?
Maybe I'll get a baby on 07.07.07- how easy would that be to remember!WW Gold Member, trying to maintain !!!Hayden born July 07Tabitha born April 05Poppy born July 030 -
