  • If it is the mucus show, the labour plug, it's not necessarily worrying. I know a girl who lost hers 6 weeks before she actually went into labour! best wishes.

    Hi

Try to relax, a bit of spotting isn't necessarily anything - it could just be bleeding from the Cervix. Is it bright red or brown (sorry guys)?

I had this several times and it was nothing, had scans and babes were perfect.

I got induced at 38 weeks by the way -I begged as I had had enough!

Chill out, put your feet up and watch Cbeebies. This is so common you wouldn't believe xxx

It is bright red, almost primary red.

The baby has been kicking light crazy since the spotting started, it is kicking quite low down and still have a dull cramp in the left side of the bump that comes and goes.

Bright Red is brand new blood - pop a pad on, if it gets to be more than a few spots... and you feel worried (trust your instincts) or you get firmer pain, forget the wait on the phone and just trundle down to A & E.

Baby kicking could be reacting to how you are feeling, or just a coincidence.

If it does turn out to be the onset of prem Labour... you'll be fine and they'll give you drugs to try and stop it, but I know several people who have bled right through the whole pregnancy.. or spotted daily! Worrying time, I know how you're feeling but try and take your mind off things. Get to A & E sooner than later though if you're going - you don't want to be down there 4 hours and not getting home until late tonight.

If it were me, I'd go now and get the once over - you could be back before about 4pm.. if you see what I mean xx

I had spotting all the through my second pregnancy, turned out to be cervical bleeding.

I then had 'serious bleeding' so I have personal experience of both.

so long as the baby is moving as normal and your not in any pain, or your 'bump' doesn't feel any different (harder, cramping etc) then you should be fine.

Try not to worry, you will be getting checked out soon. Just lie down, stay calm, keep taking nice steady breaths and before you know it you will be getting told your fine, and baby s fine.

If its any consolation I bled and spotted throughout the whole of my first pregnancy. It got so bad that at one point (about 20 weeks) I went into hospital with shock due to the amount of blood loss. Not only that but there were massive fist sized clots coming out too.

I now have a healthly two year old and they could never find anything wrong and never knew what had caused the problems.

I found that if I had been doing something particularly strenuous then i would have some spotting.

The Consultant told me that some women are just 'bleeders' and he said you would be suprised at just how common spotting is in pregnancy (and not just the early stages).

As long as the baby is still kicking I wouldn't worry too much. Get checked out just for your sanity but try not to worry as i'm sure things are fine.

Easier said than done, try not to worry too much, theres lots of things it could be.I had spotting when I was 8 weeks pregnant & was absolutely terrified I was losing him. Like you I went to the hospital (they could only fit me in the next day - I cried nearly all night). They couldnt find a reason for it but thought it was abrasions on my cervix.

Your doing all you can, your OH is probably coping the only way he knows how, to carry on as normal.

Let us know how you get on hun.

    Big hugs

Hi CP, just wanted to say I hope everything goes well at the hospital later. If it does get worse I would get back on the phone to them and insist on being seen. In the meantime, as others have said, try not to worry too much - rest as much as you possibly can.

There was a thread about spotting some time ago, and the vast majority of people who had had it were absolutely fine. And your baby is kicking which is a really good sign.

Let us know how you get on at the hospital (they'll probably do a scan/trace and then send you home with instructions to go back if the bleeding gets any heavier), I'm sure everything will be okay but I know how worrying it can be. xxx

oh CP how worrying for you - try to relax, baby will be reacting to your stress and adrenaline. Hopefully it'll be nothing serious and you'll find out in a couple of hours... it's just tough to have to wait. :grouphug:

Good luck CountingPennies, hope you get seen soon! I'm sure it's nothing too serious, to me it just sounds like the plug (which could come out weeks and weeks before the birth). Keep us posted :)

(You haven't had sex recently, have you? I just thought that might've caused the bleeding as well?)
