oh Eels I had that kind of day yesterday too without having anything as stressful as an ECV added into the mix

Sorry to hear it didn't work and I hope the consultant's thumb gets better ;)
I know it's not ideal but a planned section is much better than an emergency one - you can just pretend you're a WAG or something ;) There's still time for baby to turn if s/he wants to and if not at least you know what to expect, I think the knowing takes away a lot of the stress...

cake is a good idea though :D

Jen hope the sweep gets thing moving for you!

Oh Eels, sorry you had such a crap day yesterday and the ECV not making much impact either.

Try your best to prepare yourself for the C-sec, and if baby does move, well then that would be a bonus!

    Fingers, and toes, crossed.

    Hi,

I Am Only 6 Weeks Pregnant And Don't Really Feel Like Eating. I Am Hungry And Know I Need To Eat Right But Just Feel Like I Can't Be Bothered. Although I Don't Feel Sick I Feel Like I Could If I Ate. Hope That Makes Sense As It Is Hard To Describe.

I Also Have Three Children To Feed And The Thought Of Cooking Is Awful. Also I Am Not A Great Cook. And I Am Vegetarian, The Kids Aren't.

Does Anybody Have Foolproof, Healthy, Easy (!!!), Quick Recipes That I Could Cook For The Whole Family That Would Come In Useful When I Am Pregnant And Also When New Baby Comes.

    Thanks
    now mum of 4!!!
  • Hi Eels

Hope the cake helped (usually does for me :rotfl: ). I had an emergency C section with my first baby after a truly horrible labour, & I remember very little about the process & felt quite out of it until my daughter was 24 hours old. I had a planned C section with my second, & it was completely different!

I was scared going into the theatre in the cold light of day (I'd been off my face on pethidine with the first & don't remember the actual process at all) & having the spinal block done, but once numb, it was fantastic to be lucid when he came out! I couldn't see anything at all, & the surgeon had said he wouldn't tell me what sex my baby was - I would be able to have the suprise & see for myself, which was wonderful (& something that never occured to me to ask about). I also chose my own music, & while you can't escape the bright theatre atmosphere, the staff were all wonderful & stayed back unless they were needed. It was a far better experience than I ever expected, & I wont be too worried to do it again if I have number 3.

My recovery was also better. Of course I was sore, but as it wasn't such a shock to me, & that I didn't have so many drugs meant that I was just more "with it". My "advice" is

    - keep the catheter in for as long as possible - they like you to be up & about ASAP, but I was still up every 10 minutes weeing when it had been removed! When it is still in weeing was one less thing to think about!

    - I loved my mesh pants! Got them from the NCT sales & although hugely unattractive they were the only things I could stand to wear! Don't forget you'll still be bleeding for a while (sorry if TMI) so you'll need to wear something & I found the disposible pants quite hot & scratchy. Also think about what clothes you'll wear afterwards, as I couldn't bear anything thight'ish. (Can't win as dresses are difficult for breastfeeding! ).

    - If you are breastfeeding then remember when you're sitting down your baby could be near your scar line, so make sure you have plenty of cushions! I also didn't realise that when I put my baby in a front facing carrier (like BabyBjorn) her feet were just at scar level too!

    - I had my second in a large hospital & was then moved to a smaller maternity unit the naxt day for 3 days - if you can do this STAY HERE AS LONG AS POSSIBLE! It was great to have care & be with other new mums in a less hospital-like environment.
The hard work starts when you get home!

Fac - your picture is wonderful! These scans weren't around when I had my first 2, but I'll have one done if I have a 3rd. Amazing!

Jen - best of luck for your sweep later

I'm still on the TTC list - heres to a good weekend! :D
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

JustKeepSwimming - thank you so much!

I've ordered the very same pants (in fact, they might arrive today - never thought I'd get so excited about mesh knickers  :rotfl: ) and bought loads of baggy (or at least they'll be baggy eventually once I've lost an inch-or-two of baby!) high-waisted jogging pants. The hospital I'm going to isn't the main district one, it's a smaller consultant-led unit with no junior doctors, just loads of friendly midwives. It's in another region from here so it causes all sorts of confusion when people have to fill in unfamiliar forms but I'm so glad I'm going there. It's quiet even when it's busy and it seems really informal.

Feeling a bit better today (my Dad just called me 'for a chat' - translates to he's worried about me so he makes sneaky calls on his day off when mum's out at work and pretends he's just calling to say hi - sweet!). I'm having lunch with some girls from work (haven't even managed 2 days away - feel like I'm missing out already!).

I'm sure it's my hormones making me so flaky. But thanks, so much, for your really kind post. :hello:

    curious george- lovely pic.

To everyone else, thanks for good luck messages. I had it done at 10ish. I was so nervous. MW says she can feel bulging waters, 2cm dilated so it is all favourable. I heard the heartbeat before and after sweep. I feel much more optimistic. Have been told to keep as active as possible so won't spend too long on here.

Hope to have some news by tomorrow.

    Take care everyone.

Well ladies, after seeing all your fab scans I have decided to take the plunge and have just booked a 4D scan at Window to the Womb for 28 weeks!!!!

I have said all along that I wasnt going to but I just couldn't resist it. I dont want to regret not doing it and I compromised by only going for the mid range package!!!!!
