I rang Barclays yesterday just to see they actually received my template letter and cq as it was sent nearly 4 weeks ago and we've heard nothing to be responded to by a snotty lady on the phone who replied ' well I cant tell you, we've got lots to rifle through, when we get to it, you'll hear from us' so i'll sit and wait patiently

We have a preliminary hearing at court on 19 July. Everyone talks about their court bundle but we have not been asked to supply anything. In fact, the judge has asked that the defendent supply a list of all charges.
Does this sound odd? We sent off the list when we logged the claim online - and I would have thought the breakdown of what was being claimed would have come from the claimant?
Thanks:heart2: Cookiepops :heart2:0 -
Hi, I was just wondering - Has anyone had their bank account closed after accepting an initial partial offer?
I've written and asked for £840 and been offered £630 as a goodwill offer. I'm happy with that, but if they're (barclays) likely to close my account, I'll push for it all plus interest.
Any advice gratefull received!
Thanks! If you think you can't or you think you can, either way you are right

Sent my first letter to Barclays 17th May for £2,450 without interest. Gave them the usual 14 days to respond. I had a letter on the 23rd May saying they are investigating the claims and it will take 4 to 8 weeks.
Do I wait 4 weeks, 8 weeks or am I now in a position to send the second letter threatening court action. When I send the letter do I then add on interest?
Advice needed urgently! Cheers0 -

That all depends how quick you want your money and if you are prepared to be bullied by them. You will probable get an offer of around 50% of your claim after 2nd letter. They will up this to about 75% if you reject the offer but if you hold out could get 100% plus 8% interest (and court costs repaid i.e. you will need to take them to court). At the end of the day it is up to you as to how much you are willing to settle for and how long you are prepared to wait for it.
Personally, I held out and took them to court. Be warned this is not a quick fix and they will no doubt put in a defence on the last possible day. You have to fully understand what it is about their charge that is illegal before you take it to court and make sure you can stand your ground. You also need to ask them the right questions to show them you know what it is you are asking and that you will be asking them the same questions in court.

They can't close your account on the basis that you made a claim! The Financial Ombudsman recently awarded someone £200 for a bank doing this!

hi Loz, 14 vdays ago i filled in mcol i used the basic letter martin gives us. It doesn't have room on the website to put much detail in i.e. a total breakdown of charges with dates. so i just put charges and the interest and the dates from and to when it happened , is this enough. Im worried i may loose my claim due to lack of detail.if it goes to court have i got to argue my case, surely its clear enough. im really worried now coz ive heard nothing from barclays. if they put in a defence on the last day how long do they have then? hope u can help. thanks. deb540

I am Claiming back 2300 from Barclays i had a offer of 1720 a few weeks back which i rejected.
I have decided that i want to take that and not bother with the courts.
What do you think the chances of them letting me do this if i calle dthem and said i had decided against courst action and would accept there offer or should i just sign the letter and send it off?
I still have the original offer waiting to be signed and sent off to accept.0
