Read the details dear!!!
I said the INSTALLATION was free and the SKY +HD box was free, which is a new promotion. Last week the box was free and you had to pay £30 or £60 for the installation. I'm fully aware of the £10 per month subscription charge......as my original post says!!!0 -
Just thought id let you know my experience - i currently had sky (sports and movies) at £48.50 per month and Virgin (base tv/broadband and eves & weekends phone package) which came to about £38 each month with calls... (totalling nearly £90 per month!!!!!!!!) - rang up both to see what they could offer - eventually got Virgin to go for V+ box and HD channels, free installation, full xl package including Sky Sports/Movies and ESPN) for both boxes (im keeping the older box too for upstairs) free phone package (eves and w/ends, and also includes free calls to virgin mobiles(i have two in the household) and 10mb broadband again. Total cost is £59 per month, including line rental HD subscription etc. Worked out far cheaper than Sky could offer as they still came to nearly £80 with BT line rental and HD subs.
I seem to think if you ring them up with full details of what the other suppliers are offering you, and are honest about what you expect with ref to packages and prices, they are happy to bargain and throw as many savings as possible your way, just stay patient and let them do the talking.
Hope this helps some others who are currently in the "bargaining" phase with either of these0 -

I've read your post! But look at it this way, Sky don't mind giving you the box or installation free, because they will be making some money out of you from the extra £10 a month that you are tied into for the twelve months. In the past couple of months they have been advertising the box for £49, with installation at £30, giving it away 'free' nets them extra £79 on the deal. they are not losing out!!! Who's to says that later in the year, they are not going to abandon the £10 per month extra charge, when you think the box initially cost £199, anything can happen.
So giving away the Box, installation charge and not charging £10 per month, I consider a "Free" promotion.

Hi All
Currently I have the Sky World Pack, all the channels, sport, movies, etc...
I have broadband max, sky telephone line rental and sky talk any time. So in total paying something just over £70 per month.
I rang up to cancel about 1 hours ago so Wednesday evening.
The first offer I got was;
Free HD box, £30 install and free sky talk unlimited for 12 months not taking to HD subscription.
The next offer I was given was to take the £10 HD subscription, free HD box, free install and free telephone line rental for 12 months.
I mentioned I love sky but times are tough as cant afford everything.
He asked what I wanted and I said something off the main rental and he assured me he cant do anything.
He only gave me the 2nd offer I mentioned after putting me on hold for 5 mins then insisting he shouldn't even be offering that !
Why I was on the phone to him Scotland scored in the football and the whole call centre erupted and even then they wouldn't offer me any more.
I can see some people before me said they easily got 6 month half price etc which would be great but I didn't get those sort of deals.
Any ideas what I can do or is it just a bad time for deals?
Thanks0 -
Hi, hubby rang sky today to cancel as he is out of work and we cannot afford to have sky at the mo, its a luxury.
he was on the phone a while and all they could do is drop it to the lowest packagehubby gave in as he said he still wants sky 1!!! grrrr
any suggestions on how he can ring back and try and haggle a deal?
we are on the basic variety pack and you dont get much for £18 a month I would have got rid until he's back in work.:smileyheaSAHM to my 4 beautiful children and wife:smileyhea0 -
Doesn't look like he can better this deal, unless he cancels completely. I know my next neighbour cancelled and a month later they were pestering him with calls to rejoin.
You could try do this, as you have nothing to lose. I am getting myself used to Freeview, maybe your hubby can try this instead?

The Sky box belongs to you from the day it's installed so yes you keep it.0 -
Out of the blue I had a call from sky (to reward loyal 7 year customer)-offering upgrade from sky+ to sky HD - box and installation free, plus no HD subscription for 12 month. Free upgrade!!? anyone else had this - seems to good to be true.0
