  • Hello everyone, Im new here, but I've been looking at this website for ages, its so useful.

This is best vodafone thread I've found, and I was wondering if my naiive idea would work. Vodafones site is currently down so I cant read their t&c's

I have about 3 months left on my 18month contract and I am due for an upgrade. I really want to leave vodafone however and go to a pay and go tariff with O2, is it possible to get my new free phone from vodafone (which requires me to renew my contract for another 18months) but then unlock it (it will be a Nokia) and stick in my O2 sim?
Basically I would like to know whether a renewed contract contains the same cooling off period as a brand new contract, so i can cancel in time, or is this just for new customers?

Perhaps I'm being far too cheeky! Any help would be appreciated, thanks

    Hi all!

As a long standing MSE visitor, I've just renegotiated my vodafone contract using much of the advice on this board!

    Previously I was on:

    12 month contract
    600 mins
    Unlimted texts

    £12.50 p/month
(Kept existing handset from previous contract)

I'd kept my ever reliable Samsung D900 from my previous contract, just got off the phone after requesting my PAC code yesterday as I'd like a new handset!

    What they offered today:

    SE C905 - free
    600mins
    Unlimited texts
    Unlimited internet
    18months
    £19.57 per month

This, of course, I accepted! I'm aware of potential problems with the C905, but, having my backup D900, this has not deterred me, although selling the handset new could pay for two thirds of my contract!...

I was ready to transfer back to Orange (the OH's network), whom offer a 24 month contract online but only 400 mins and unlimited texting at £19.57 p/month (hence the rather random figure from Vodafone who said they would match it - crucially though at 18months not 24).

Retentions wouldn't budge any lower even though I suggested the figure of £19.57, I asked if he could call me back after having a think about it, and credit to Vodafone, he did just that exactly when he said he would and I managed to get unlimited internet thrown in!

I'm happy with the deal, I'll not use all those minutes but the unlimited internet will certainly be useful!

    Hi
I was on 12month 600 min 1000 txt new phone £40pm, I was coming to the end of the contract so inApril rang to cancel. I was inundated with calls offering different deals but none which could tempt me to stay. A few days before the contract ended i was offered the same deal without a phone for £10pm, i took it. A week later my phone was disconnected, i rang and they said the disconnection instruction was not lifted, they appoligised and immediatley reconnected me. In June I recieved a bill for £6.58, it seemed low but i did not question it. Yesterday i recieved a bill for £382.86!!! this was a charge for cancellation. I rang and told them i didnt request a cancellation, the man said he would lift the charge and i would continue to pay £29pm, I stressed to him that my contract was for £10pm but he said there is no record of that deal on my file.

I just don't know what to do.

    Hi everyone,

I thought I'd pop on here and take the opportunity to assure you all that our sales advisors are randomly monitored for training and quality assurance purposes.

However, it is always concerning to hear of instances where customers believe that they have not received what they understood was agreed over the phone and we would always encourage customers to contact us to discuss their concerns further so that we can try to get them resolved. Remember, you will always have a seven days cooling off period to iron out any problems.

I think it goes without saying that we would never condone mis-selling and if we're able to positively indentify instances where this has happened then these will be dealt with in a more formal manner internally.

    Many thanks,

From the amount of times this sort of incident is reported on this forum (and no doubt others), I think someone up on high at Vodaphone needs to get their head out of the sand and actually look into how and why this is happening.

Just called Vodafone after sending back my phone due to Retentions Dept not honouring deal (post 1946) which they offered. Called Vodafone today and told that even though i sent mobile back in Special Delivery envelope provided by Vodafone on Monday there system still showed as new contract and no phone/contract returned or cancelled, checked with Royalmail website and believe this or not Vodafone Special Delivery envelope provided has been re-directed to another address , surely Vodafone can send envelope with actual address on it to where it should be delivered. As it is showing as being re-directed does this mean that cooling off period will be over as it's still not showing as delivered due to re-direction.

Have just spoke with the Vodafone Outbound Retentions Team and have been given a good deal to stay with Vodafone.

I was originally on the 30 day sim only deal, 600 mins and unlimited texts for £20 per month, i've now been given the following:

    600 Anytime Mins
    Unlimited Texts
    Unlimited Internet
    ** No Phone - Sim Only **

£9.79 per month on a 12 month contract.

I thought that was a really good deal :)

    Well done Vodafone!! :)

    Hi

was recently in contact with vodafone retentions about a mobile upgrade to a HTC Magic, the best of a fairly mediocre collection. Their offerings were really poor, best they offered was a £29 month 18mnt contract with 600 min which is actually worse then what they offered last month. But iv found a great website http://!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!/ to compare and have found a good deal on the HTC Hero. Its a cashback with mobiles.co.uk but my reasearch is uncovering a customer service worse vodafone has anyone had any dealings with this company.

    regards
