Free BT installation deal discussion

I can confirm that what ewen said about the BT offer is correct and has been extended to September.
My girlfriend phoned BT this morning to see if she could take up the free installation offer for a new property even though she wasn't moving in until early August. BT advised her that the offer had been extended and just to call back when she had a definite installation date.0 -
Great, thanks Neil0

Just wanted to pop in and say thanks to Heinz, andy, Morph3us and the rest of you.
My sister and brother in-law moved on Saturday and contacted BT this morning, they rang 0800 100 444 and asked for CUSTOMER OPTIONS TEAM and quoted "save on connection".
The guy pleaded ignorance, then after a short wait he came back on the line, took their details and they're connecting them for free on 6th July.0 -
I just tried to register to get the free line but the salesman was only interested in reporting my broadband provider to OFCOM!
I've hung up, Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad:0 -

Perhaps some kind soul BT or otherwise could help members by posting an up to date BT link to the free connection offer, that supersedes this one.

Just thought I'd share my experience. I have received 3 or 4 mailshots from BT asking me to return to them, offering free installation. Despite warnings from friends, I decided to take the plunge, phoned up, and arranged for an engineer to come and re-connect me. The process was smooth, I would be billed for £122.50 on my first bill, but also receive a credit of £122.50 so the installation would be free. The engineer turned up as promised and the re-connection took about 20 minutes. So far so good.
Then I received my bill. I've been charged £122.50, but no credit has been applied. When I phoned up to complain, they said they knew nothing about my offer, but if I posted them my offer letter I could get the credit. Guess what? Like a fool I can't put my hands on any of the letters. Despite the fact that they must know that they have mailed me, they refuse to acknowledge this because I can't prove it. Only when I persisted and asked to speak to a supervisor, and after they had asked if I had previously been a customer was I promised the credit. Strings are attached however. I must stay with them for 18 months (this was part of the original agreement anyway), I must make at least 30 calls per quarter, and I cannot change my plan. I think the 2nd two conditions are new.
So, I've been back with BT for less than a week and I'm already regretting it. Hopefully I've gained the free installation, but BT's word is obviously worthless, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Anybody know of a phone number or address of somebody I can complain to about this shoddy treatment?
Best of luck to anybody else who tries. Make sure you keep all the paperwork.0 -

No the calls condition is not new.
1. Customers must make at least 30 chargeable or inclusive calls every three month period or 10 chargeable calls or inclusive calls per month if you are billed monthly.
and you can upgrade your plan.
3. Customers may upgrade their Calling Plan but they may not downgrade within the minimum term

Good luck with your £122.50 credit.0 -
Youve got to laugh post 2 - See post #250
Quoted word for word from the Official BT rep 29/7/09
"The cost of getting a line connected at your address is for £ 420 (excl. VAT) due to the kind of work required. It consists of a £ 350 (excl VAT) survey charge, and the remainder is for the work required for a 2 metre of duct on soft ground."
When challenged by myself about the above statement, today I recieved the following - Quoted word for word from the Official BT rep 1/8/09
"The price you have been quoted is not for the actual survey but for the work that is needed to get the line installed. This survey does not cost anything but on occasions were extra work is needed to get a line installed Openreach will quote a price to have the work carried out."
Now, left hand and right hand are totally out of whack here, first the charge was MAINLY for the survey, now it isnt.
If BT dont know what they are doing, how on earth are we supposed to get a line installed at a fair price.
