Hi Jolene,
You can do it either way really. I usually defrost soup first but if I forget to take it out of the freezer early enough, I just reheat it from frozen.
I'll add this to the Quick Questions on freezing thread as your question may help others.

Can I freeze cooked turnip ?0

I freeze mashed swede all the time and it works really well, just heat it up in a pan when its defrosted to drive off the extra water. Not sure how chunks work but I'm sure they would be fine, just a slight texture change.0

brilliant ta - they are still chunks but very soft ones0

Can I take frozen beef mince , cook it, then freeze it again ?0
-
Hi mardatha,
Yes you can providing the mince was raw when it was frozen. The general rule is freeze once raw and then once defrosted and cooked it can be frozen again but only once.

I'm ready to be told differently
but you can do this. I do it all the time. Defrost big pack of mince, cook it into various meals then freeze in portions ready for an easy nights meal :T
