in Credit cards
As many of you will know, back in December, I suggested people sign up to the Amex Nectar card to get £30 worth of free points when signing up, via a special link provided by price comparison website moneysupermarket.com (dont get that confused with this site).
Sadly due to a clerical error by Amex, many people didn't get their points.... and I've been battling to get some resolution.
The Resolution
If you haven't got your points (it should be 6,000)Amex has now set up a special email which you can use, to make sure you will get them. The email , which Amex promises to respond to each working day is
Please note, if you think you're getting your points anyway don't clog this up. Also this is ONLY for people who haven't got the points having applied through the special link I included in the article/email tip. It isn't for any other issues, please don't abuse this or it could impact the people who need to use it.
The reply
The email will be checked every day, and every one should be sorted out at speed.
What if it doesn't work
Then in a couple of weeks I wil try and follow up individual cases with Amex myself.

URGENT FREE £30 from Nectar: December only
Sign up for a new American Express 'Nectar' credit card and you earn 6,000 Nectar points (worth £30) when you spend on it. Yet 'spending' can be as little as a Mars bar and you still get the points! Be careful, 6,000 points are only available via this link Amex Nectar* as it goes through commercial price comparison site Moneysupermarket (otherwise it's just 1000 points). Thanks Martin.
I've emailed this morning as I got a bit fed up phoning up and hearing different excuses. Hopefully I will hear something soon.

Well I didn't expect it to be right, and it isn't, but I think this is a new slant on the previous postings.
I don't think I have picked up on anyone who has received the bonus 4000 points without ever getting the original 1000 or 2000 with the first statement, but that is what they have done. I have rung them up this morning and as usual very friendly and have agreed to manually put the extra 2000 through.
So much happier that the finishing line is closer now. They promised me today, a fortnight ago, and it ( nearly ) happened. I suppose my dread now is that they will try reversing out the 4000 as part of a corrective action perhaps never to be seen ( or at least until another chaser ) again.
If you don't laugh .. well ? They are always so nice. I am used to ntl !
Thank You Martin .. know how you feel !
Will also send a confirming e-mail to get a record in writing.0 -
Well my wait is over at last - it's been a long haul.
Had my 2000 on my 15 Jan Amex statement : on their website today I see that I have an additional 4000 : it doesn't show yet on my Nectar account but I assume it will after my 15 Feb Amex statement.
Patience is rewarded and thanks Martin.0 -
My Amex bill arrived this morning. My purchase is on and I'm up to 2030 points. I spoke to Andrew at Amex at 10:00 and they "are starting an enquiry." Andrew couldn't say how long the enquiry will take....
Found this thread and have e-mailed. Let's see how much response I get.

Finally got the last 4,000 nectar points today.
Should I cancel the card now??0 -
I've finally got my full 6000 points :j The first 2000 were credited when my first Amex statement was issued (10th Jan) and, as promised on the phone when I telephoned them, the remaining 4000 Nectar points have been credited today with the issue of my second Amex statement.
Thanks for Martin and the other MSE-ers for all their help on this.

cheggers - I'm posting again my thoughts about this, for you to consider if you wish!
I am afraid I can't behave exactly as Martin suggests - buy a Mars bar, get your points and cut the card up. It's not in my nature to be so ruthless.
So I feel it's only right to put a little bit of business their way by buying at least some things on their card.
But what's easy to overlook is that there is some benefit from their card. If you shop at Sainsbury's or Debenham's or Adams kids amongst others (as many of us do), paying with the Amex Nectar card gets you double Nectar points. Using the card for anything else gets you single points.
And these points are convertible into cash.0 -
Just to say THANKS to Martin. :T
Got my extra 4000 points today so I can go luggzury shopping (as they say in Big Brother) at Sainsbury's tomorrow.0 -
Got through to helpful girl using freephone number who told me that it has to be the main holder(DH)not additional holder(me) of card who needs to spend in order to get the 6000 points and that it would be credited 6 weeks after that initial spend-I don't remeber that being in the details of the offer but it would explain why I haven't yet got the points as only I have spent on it so far-anyone else had this explanation?0
