    I received a text about this today. Has anyone had any success getting out of their contract. I'm fed up of paying £45 a month when I have a corporate Vodafone contract anyway!! :mad:

    I sent them an Email also explaining why I want to cancel my contract quoting their terms and regulations.

    Still waiting on a reply
  • I signed up for this thread. I've spent a good 20 mins on the phone with Vodafone requesting to leave my contract following these price changes, they would not have it even though I argued the case that I am disadvantaged by the changes to the contract and changes pose a material disadvantage to me as party to the contract.

    I went through three different people and no one would recede, each time they quoted the T&Cs saying they can vary their charges. I'd be interested to hear other peoples experiences and especially any successes!

    I once got out of a vodaphone contract when a salesman misrepresented that contract to me. Vodafone would not have any of it, but a letter to head office and the threat of legal action made them stop messing about.

    I just got out of my 3 contract through a similar letter, but looking at the Vodafone T&C's, I'm not so sure with this one as it's worded differently.

    '• during the Term
    i) we increase in the United Kingdom and under clause 7a, call or other usage charges which have the effect of increasing your call or other usage charges by more than 10% or the increase in RPI calculated as in 8a above (which ever is the greater) based upon your previous call or usage pattern;
    ii) you write to us before the increase takes effect.'
    With this one, you will have to prove that it increases your cost by 10% or more in order to get out. With 3, they just say if they increase charges to the detriment of the user, you can cancel.

    So much stricter with your one I'm afraid.

    Yes, it does sound much stricter... the RPI is less than 10% though and if the changes cause your bills to rise by more than that you'd still have something to argue with.
  • Terms and conditions are exactly that and not a legal statute, so not sure if they can be legally binding if they are restricive. I guess a complaint to Ofcom might be a way of getting a binding answer on this. I've mailed Vodafone saying I want to stay on the existing pricing I signed up to and that I want to cancel if they will not do this. I'll let you guys know what they come back with but I'm expecting a big fat NO.

    Don't see how it can be legal for a company to change the charges part way through a contract and hold you to it, isn't that extortion?
