ING Direct offering £75 - mailer

ING Direct sent me an offer in the post. Open an account and stick £2500 in it before Sept 30 and they will give you £75.00, cant see any catches and its paid into your account 05/10. Didnt see the offer on their site but 0800 183 8086 and I am sure if I got it then you can ask for it.

So if I did my sums right thats 3% for a month. I guess they hope you will forget about it as the account only pays 5%

Sounds like they're having to up the bribe (have been offering £50 for a while now). Sums are quite correct, only catch is likely to be that you won't get the extra dosh if you've ever had an account with them (lol - moving from "one great rate for all" to "brand new customers only").

Could be worth some serious consideration providing the £2500 doesn't have to be kept in the account after the £75 payment, though I certainley wouldn't open the account on the verbal promise of £75 by a customer sales person. There seems to be absolutely nothing about this on their site.

Tavvy are you already a customer ?

If you don't want to fund the account with £2500, there are two other offers, including £20 for just opening the account:

I rang ING re this yesterday, and they are aware that these links are doing the rounds on the internet. They informed me that when you apply your details are cross referenced with those on their database, and if your name isn't on their mailing list (either electronic or postal) you won't get the £75 - or any other offer value.

Also, as an old customer (I withdrew my last £1 a couple of months ago), I was told that they'll keep my (log in) details on file for 3 years thereby preventing me from benefitting from these type of offers for a considerable time.

Happy to be proved wrong though so good luck to anyone who tries.

I really cannot understand Ing's logic. They started off with an easy to use site, simple"one rate for all " which was good and if they had just kept with that, and raised rates to match the majority of accounts, they would have kept so many more customers.Instead they have complicted accounts, short term offers, incentives like these and a low rate of interest for the basic, original account. It is pure madness.

I wrote to them asking them to close my account,as it long since had any money in it! and i am not amused to hear they will keep my log in details for 3 years. There is now way i will ever go back to them and i don't like the thought of them keeping my details on file somewhere.

They would have to offer me more than £75 to put my money back with them TBH, I was glad when I got my money away from them, they do not have a clue about customer relations, one would think that customers removing £5Bn away from them would show them that people do not like the way they treat them.

I just called the 0800 number and they told me the offer is being run by an outside agency and offered to selected customers. She siad I definitely wouldn't get the incentive. I would relly like to do this , as would my husband and 2 daughters. If someone finds it's possible, please post.
