Jackie0 Big hugs during this grotty time. I am so sorry to hear about your loss.

Taplady Your cheque is in the post, it is nice to be missed.

I've been out most of the day visiting MIL and running errands. Left the house at 8:30 to do the school run and got back about 1pm. Dad popped round for a coffee as soon as I got back followed by FIL, followed by a cousin bringing a big bag of hand me down clothes for the MATHLETS so I've done almost nothing constructive all day but we have had a fun trying on session tonight after tea. LOL

I plan to get into me jimjams early tonight and snuggle in front of the telly with nothing more pressing than grooming the cats on my list to do.

    Have a good evening

My mum gave me the recipe a couple of days ago:

    5 large ripe bananas
    6oz soft brown sugar
    8oz SR Flour
    2 Eggs
    6oz sultanas

Mash bananas, mix in everything but flour. Add in flour and consistency is quite wet. Use a 2lb loaf tin and put in oven for 1hr at 170c. This loaf can be frozen and comes out very moist and filling. We just doubled up and did 2, I also added a little cinamon.

why does it always rain at school run time!? We looked like drowned rats.

Have just added up how much it will cost to kit both kids kids out in school uniform. DD needs all new. Hers has lasted 2 years but is now too small/very tatty. DS will be starting. Apart from PE shorts & T shirt nothing else can be handed down.

The total has come to approx. £235  I hate the fact that so much has to be logo-ed.

Manicdays....Do they have school uniform sales at the school?
When mine went (boy and girl) we used to go to the uniform sale and the items were usually in very good condition and very much cheaper than new.
Their school had logo'd sweat shirts too. The school office will know if and when they are or they might have a used uniform board pinned up somewhere.

Well if I wished I hadn't got out of bed this morning, the day just got worse  I spoke to the Headmaster and resigned, along with telling him the rest of the PTA has resigned - so the school now has no PTA:eek: I've had people complaining to me all day - but when asked for help in the past couldn't be bothered IYKWIM Am feeling thoroughly rotten. A glass (or two) of wine is definately on the cards for tonight.

BargainRzl - excellent thinking regards confirmation of time and venue! It'd be so fab for some more peeps to join you, Shez and me.

Penny Pincher...yummmyyyy!!! That loaf sounds easy to make and I can just imagine how lovely it tastes. I'm going to do some baking at my friend's house in London (yes I know I'm a crazy chick, but I enjoy it!!!) so will do that along with the carrot cake, All-Bran Bread and scones I have already planned. Her freezer is going to be full by the time I leave.

JackieO - how awful about your friend, it must be heartbreaking to have lost someone so dear. I'm so sorry this has happened.

I went off to the library and the shops this afternoon but had a bit of a funny turn (a very very mild funny turn) so didn't stay out too long. I just felt a bit weak and dizzy so headed home. I did manage to buy a book in a charity shop - a Nick Hornby one that the library didn't have for £1. The four books I returned had a bit of a fine on them...£7.20. Yeah, £7.20...I thought it might be about £1.50 so i got a bit of a shock and embarrassingly I didn't have the cash on me. The library assistant was very nice about it though and explained that I could pay it back in installments. I'll go back on Saturday and pay it, but that's the last time I'll be paying any library fines, I have learnt my lesson!

I'm wrecked now, could sleep for a week (like I am ever going to sleep for more than four hours!?!) - but think I will force myself out into the lovely bright sunshine for a walk, then come back and do a bit of paperwork sorting out for half an hour or so. I have to send my Standard Life voting form back. The question was: do you want us to float and for us to send you a nice share certificate worth lots of money? Errr let's see now, that'd be yes.

Bye all, have a great evening.

So sorry to hear about your friend and I agree with you about cancer. Oh for a "magic bullet" to eradicate the disease.

Got a call to say a stair rail would be fitted at my Dad's flat tomorrow afterneen and there may be an assessment visit some time on Friday to see what he needs so he can go home.

When I visited tonight he seemed a bit more like himself and the news about the stair rails seemed to cheer him up.

DDs keeping muffins and fruit cake for tomorrow and I may do sausage casserole in slow cooker for tomorrow afternoon as I will be at dad's flat for an hour or so.
