Quick post I went to Iceland to stock up on half price nescafe, 300 g for 2.49 if anyone needs any and was delighted to find Slimming World chicken sausages reduced to £1, not sure why and assistant didn't know either, maybe just this branch but worth a look if you are in there and like them. Then went to asda to stock up on Philadelphia light. They are the family 280g pack usually about 2.40 at £1, got chive, garlic and plain.also found 1kg packs of frozen cauliflower at 30p. I do love bargain mooching.

That works for me when I want to maintain but not lose. I can only lose if I have only one off plan meal a week. Everyone is different though.

I'm feeling determined to get it off again. Long may it last!

Was replying about being at target so that's how I maintain too :D
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

    Hello everyone
How do you start again? I was going to sw, lost half a stone in a month - really into it! ....... then messed about, new kitchen, family christening, stress with work, comfort eating, dog died, weekend away, you name it I've got an excuse why I went off plan and put it all on again!
Last weekend went away and couldn't believe how awful I looked in my clothes and in the fotos!
Need to get Back on plan, hoping to rejoin on Saturday - but how do you get back on plan when you have been grazing all day every day and appear together constantly hungry. I'm so down and want to do it but know it's going to be soon hard!!! Help!

Hi Pickle, I'm sure we can all relate to your post and I've certainly had a few blips in recent months when life was throwing lemons thick and fast.

I'm not an 'official' paid up member of SW, nor am I really a veteran as I've only been doing it since September, but for me the trick is to really go gung-ho, at least at the start. Find a couple of weeks where you have no big social engagements, weekends away, or stressy work times (ones you can predict anyway), so you can really get in the groove. Spend a day clearing out your kitchen of all temptations, go through your recipe books, magazines and the website, and make a full meal plan for the week. Think also about the kinds of snacks you'll eat and factor in Syns (I love meringue nests for a sweet treat at 2-3 Syns dep. on brand) then make a list and go shopping, sticking religiously to it.

Make sure you measure and weigh your HEs and write down everything you eat - often we'll pick at something small and forget we've had it but it all adds up.

Cook in batches where possible and make use of your freezer - that way you'll always have something ready-made to hand in a pinch. Make use of the SW ready meals from Iceland too - I always have a couple in the freezer just in case.

Make sure that 1/3 of each meal is Speed as this is the real key to weight loss - the Speed stuff is what fills you whilst being low in calories and high in nutrients.

Make sure you eat enough to feel satisfied. The whole point of SW is that it doesn't deprive so you shouldn't feel hungry. I'm a grazer too, especially at my desk at work, so think about the kinds of things you can have in your situation. Muller lights are free and fill a hole, and another of my faves is to chop raw carrots into 'crisps' and munch on those from a bag.

Think about your Syns too. How many are already accounted for in the meals you've planned and hot drinks with sugar etc? For this reason I try to keep my meals free and drink fruit teas through the day instead of sugary coffee, which I'd much prefer!

Make sure you're eating stuff you enjoy!! I'm not a fan of most fruits for example, so I don't bother buying them anymore (took me a while to have that epiphany!) and only get the ones I know I will eat - apples and my beloved passion fruits basically :o If you're not enjoying what you're eating and looking forward to each meal, then it isn't going to work as you'll resent the plan.

Most important thing to remember is: If you DO have a blip, let it be just that. The best analogy someone told me was: If your car got a flat tyre, would you then get out and slash the other three in anger? No, because it would make the situation worse. So if you have a bad day, don't turn it into seven bad days.

And stay accountable. Write everything you eat in your book, report in here each evening, keep going to group. There are loads of facebook groups and you can post your meals on Instagram and Twitter... Everyone's watching!! :rotfl:

Sorry that came out a bit long and rambly, but I hope not preachy, and I hope I haven't missed anything fundamental :o Good luck!!

Tete - that was a good post about getting into the groove of the plan! It's very easy to go off track.

    Having another EE day today:

B - scrambled eggs on toast
L - LO mixed bean goulash & rice
    D - HM lasagne & salad

Probably not as much Speed as there ought to be but it'll have to do!

HEA will be milk as usual.

Only syns so far are 2 for cheese sauce mix in the lasagne. Not sure what else if any.

    Hello all,

back from the weekend and got back in the flow yesterday. Managed to maintain so not so bad. The next tournament is the last of the season and in Sheffield so we will be staying at home = no excuse! There will likely be a team meal somewhere indulgent but can be good the rest of the time.

That's a great idea gfb. It'll make you feel better whether it improves weightloss or not. Do you not get a break from your desk? I know lush tries to get out for a walk and some fresh air at lunchtimes.

Yes, I have to get out even just for 20mins for fresh air (even in the rain) and natural light. Always beneficial to have a stretch plus the way I see it the employer doesn't pay you for your lunch hour and you have to have a minimum amount of time away from your desk so if I'm not getting paid for that hour its mine to do what I want with and I don't want to spend it working like I do the other 7.5hrs!

    today:
breakfast: 35g oats (heb) made in to porridge with 1/2 hea milk. 4syns for peanut butter and a banana plus 500ml nas squash
followed by cup of tea (milk from HeA)
lunch: salad: chicken breast, 3 tinned new potatoes, lettuce, beetroot, baby plum tomatoes and some pickled onions. have brought in some of the free dressing but not sure I'll have it...depends on how the lettuce goes down!
followed by: free natural yogurt with a drizzle of zero syrup (also free)
tea will be a late one as we have training until 8pm. its lasagne (made with asda bolognaise and asda white sauce for lasagne) not 100% on syns but I think divided by 4 portions it probably ends up around 10syns?!

body magic: will take a one hour walk at lunchtime

I have my first appointment with the health trainers soon (21st) and that's close to my office and I have a job interview next week to work as an activities coordinator in a home for the elderly with dementia which would use more of my degree (psychology) and I think would be really interesting :) also close to home, no extra travel etc so would save money on that and they have similar employee benefits to where I am now (health insurance etc)

Well done Rebster on SOTW :j and thanks for the chart Shala:A
Great post Tete esp the bit about the tyre - so true:T
Anyway just a quick one, to say -3lb this week please Shala - not sure I quite believe it, had to stand on the scales twice to make sure:rotfl:

Hope the poorlies are on the mend soon.
  • Morning slimmers

Jumped on the scales this morning and was pleased to see a 3.5lb loss :j I don't think I veered off track at all this week so I'm chuffed to bits, hopefully my SW mojo is back :D Well done rebster on SOTW and congrats to all the losers :T

Good luck to you pickle with getting back on the SW wagon. It is hard to do when you've had a while off. I'd echo everything Tete said, especially the writing down of everything and the 1/3 of speed foods, I'm sure that's helped me lose this week. Staying hydrated helps too, I've drunk a lot more water this week and it fills you up as well as flushing out all the bad stuff. I think you just have to take it one day at a time though, with me the first day getting back on plan is always the hardest but once that's over with it does get easier. There's tons of support on here as well, I don't go to a class so this thread has helped me stay focused.

Going a little off-plan today as we're out for a meal tonight with my parents to celebrate OH's birthday (again as they couldn't make the meal we had on his actual birthday - jammy swine he is getting 2 birthdays :rotfl:)

    Food today:

    B - toast with banana & honey
L - subway salad probably chicken tikka my fave
T - off-plan as we'll be at indian restaurant, i'll probably end up with something creamy and calorific and non-SW friendly but I'll enjoy every mouthful so it'll be worth it :p

A few people have mentioned Instagram - can you let me know your username and I'll [STRIKE]stalk[/STRIKE] follow you? I'm @loserlucy :D

I'm @candyapple_sw on instagram :) happy to follow any fellow threadies back if you let me know who you are!

    Have a super day everyone
    xx
  • Great post Tete :)

(I always seem to post last nights tea on here first thing cos I normally don't know what I'm having till later in the day lol....so last night's tea was turkey breast in a ginger chilli sauce (yum!!) with cauliflower, broccoli and various other veggies...made enough for tonight too)

    Food today:

B: 0% greek yog and raspberries
L: chicken salad - lil bit of cheese in it for 1/2 hea - rest milk in tea
D: turkey in ginger and chilli sauce and veggies

No heb organised yet...realised that the bread I've been having has been leaving me feel bloated and uncomfortable...will have to reevaluate my heb's - *thinking cap on*
