TV licensing threats

Thank god there is someone on here that has felt the might of TVL and it PROVES what I said IGNORE at your peril
murphyb007's partner didn't ignore TVL.
On the contrary, they communicated with the "TV Licence inspector".
As a result, they were prosecuted for LF evasion, which (if my understanding of murphyb007's posts is correct), he was indeed guilty of.
I've been legally unlicensed for just over 4.5 years, have received 40-odd Threat-O-Grams and a dozen visits, all of which have been ignored.
As a result, I have not received a single summons.0 -

If I owed someone £100 say, and My partner paid them the £100 I wouldnt take them to court for the same £100 if you know what I mean? I think Its worth a day in court? Its a principal thing, rather than not wanting to pay the fine
Ha but you forget one thing Murphy Your not the TVL where common sense is not in their volcaberly :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

My suggestion is try and get the email/ contact details of the boss at TVL you may find it on CEO email.com a very useful site :-) OR write to your local MP as that's how my campaign started following that I had a reply from Pipa Doubtfire head of revenue management at the BBC. this may get removed as it did earlier in this thread Her email is
pipa.doubtfire@bbc.co.uk
Good luck let me know how you get on :-)
Hi Kayak, Thanks for the info, I am the kind of guy who if I feel I am wrong I will admit it and of course pay it. But if I feel hard done by I will go out of my way to fight the fat cat bullys who expect you to bow down to them!
Im intrigued by your campaign? What is it? Giot maybe help expand it0 -
IF there is a licence at the property AND only one TV then his partner should NOT have had the fine in the first place
But they didn't have a licence at the time the partner admitted they watch live broadcast television.
Therefore the fine is correct.
As Bedsit Bob said, if you get fined for driving without insurance you can't just buy an insurance policy and then expect the previous conviction to go away!If your comments are right then it means if someone moves in to an already licensed property with three adult children Do you believe each adult needs a licence ?
For example, if Mr Jones has a licence in his name for his address, and then Mr Bloggs and his three children all move in a lodgers, if the lodgers all want to receive broadcast television in their own rooms then they will require their own licence in their own names. The licence purchased by Mr Jones would not cover them, except for the communal areas of the house.
This is similar to a group of students all sharing a house. They can buy one licence in the name of one person, and use it to watch TV in a communal room. But if each student wants to also receive live broadcasts on a device in their OWN room then they will all need additional licences in their OWN name.

Glad we got that sorted.
Let's get this straight it's not the rules so much although I still disagree with starting to pay for something 6 months before I'm actually going to use it It's the getting ever increasing aggressive letters :mad:0 -

I think you need to re-read murphyb007's original post.
At the time her partner was caught by the "TV Licence inspector", there was no licence in force at the address.
A licence was obtained after the visit. If your comments are right then it means if someone moves in to an already licensed property with three adult children Do you believe each adult needs a licence ?
No, one licence will suffice, but in murphyb007's case, at the time of the visit, there wasn't any licence in force at the address, hence why he was prosecuted.0 -

You mean the ever increasing aggressive letters that DO NOT EVER ARRIVE while you are legally licensed and up to date with all your payments?
If you were legally licence free you'd have reason to complain about the letters.0 -

Yes, but the TV Licencing had advised her to get a licence for the address. Which was got so surely that is "job done".
He never specified, you must get one in your name, nor you cant get the family member who pays the bills to get one. Its a shambles... Money making operation, they got what they set out for, A TV Licence at that address. What more do they want!:mad:0 -
Ha but you forget one thing Murphy Your not the TVL where common sense is not in their vocabulary :rotfl::rotfl:
It's not a matter of common sense. It's a matter of the law.
You cannot cancel out an offence, by complying with the law, after having being caught committing the offence.0 -
