I have also bought an unlock code from the ebay seller in post 1 - (wow he's making a fortune)

I'm a bit confused about this process however - it says they don't do weekends, so do i now wait on them sending an email to me, which i reply to with IMEI code or should i be sending that to them now via an already existing paypal or similar email

    Many thanks.

You will receive an email from them with a link where you enter your IMEI. You then wait for the codes to arrive.

I am not sure what i've done but the maps have turned sort of black and white - with shades of grey from the colourful version it was previously. I don't really know what i did .
I tried to look under "layers" but nothing i tried on that resolved my problem, any suggestions?

I bought one of these last week, from very for £69, as although we had an account already they had sent the same £30 off £60 deal as a welcome back - so bargain.

According to the instruction in the advert, you could put the IMEI in the Paypal instruction. At least that was the instruction when I got mine.

That's the bit i'm struggling with, i'm not that familiar with paypal - is that the confirmation email for the payment or something within the paypal site\?

paypal is how you pay for an ebay or other online transaction.

the ebay seller will send you an email confirming your order and if memory serves me well, a link in which to order the "unlock code", you will have to provide details of the specific handset- (Full instructions on where to find that are provided)

once youve done that, the code will arrive some 24-48 hours later, with full (step by step) instructions on what to do with it. follow those and voila one unlocked handset.

It's pretty straightforward really, just sounds more complicated than it actually is.

When you get to PayPal to make the payment there's a box where you can send a message to the vendor.

ICS most version on the G300 introduced an annoying feature for those that like to have an internet connection on all the time -

if mobile data and wifi is enabled and you go within range of a 'connectable' wifi signal the phone correctly disables mobile data and switches to wifi.

When the wifi is no longer available, the phone tries to switch back to mobile data again but, in ICS it pops up a reminder that you may incur data charges continue yes or cancel. Unless you click yes it does not switch. VERY ANNOYING feature if its in your pocket and you don't see it!! I have worked around this in the past with an app.

Just saw on Modoco a simple fix IF YOUR PHONE IS ROOTED

I have done it and it works, phone switches back and forth seamlessly.

If your phone is rooted, install ES File Explorer from the market. Give it root access, find the file, open with ES File Explorers built in editor, scroll through the file find the line mentioned and edit it, click menu - save. then exit it.
Reboot the phone (proper reboot with fastboot off) and its done.
