  • Seems some people prefer Gingerbread over ICS

When my phone is charged it reads 93% in no time at all. Anyone else have a similar thing?

Over all, I like this phone :)

It seems the phone performs well with either, personally I prefer ICS as it is more flexible that's all.

You could try recalibrating your battery, it worked well on my Android Tablet there are apps to make it easy - pretty much they re-teach the phone what fully charged 'looks' like with the battery by clearing a file so the phone automatically makes a new one and recalibrates.

    I used this app OK.

What's the effect of swapping SIM cards when going abroad and then reinserting the regular SIM on our return?

I use an e-kit SIM when travelling outside Europe, normally in a second phone. That one is dual band only and doesn't work in the US. The G300 is of course quad band.

If I remove my Orange SIMfrom the G300 and replace it with the e-kit SIM, I'm sure I will lose call records and the like. No great problem. Will I also lose apps and Skype? I guess I'm asking which info is on the SIM and which is stored on the phone.

    Thanks for your insight.

The G330 is apparently now going to be pitched at the same £100 price point sim free, exclusively on talktalk mobile at the moment (contracts from £10/mth) but will be available sim free from other outlets in the new year. Amazing spec for the price.

I am almost certain that no apps including Skype are stored on your sim.

If you want to back up your data before you change your sim have a look at post 711 https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4165069

    Hi
I have bought one as a xmas present and now have to try and get the IMEI number to unlock it. However I keep getting ''unknown command''when I use #06#.

I have used the Vodaphone sim that came with it to try to get the IMEI. I have also tried a giffgaff sim, but that is not recognised by the phone.

I have the same IMEI number on the battery and phone but obviously I want to check that this is the same as the phone!

    Any advice gratefully appreciated.

Just go to settings - about phone - Status -- its listed in there among many other things.

Could be the bargain phone of next year by a mile.

I would so love one of their Quad D (Iphone 5 killers :)) but I suspect even if you could get one support for rooting etc would be slim on the ground. Some reviewers describe it as the most powerful phone - in the world (Jeremy Clarkson voice required)
