Has anyone tried making a claim for flight delay against NZ and if so do you have a contact address in the UK for sending a claim?0

2. Interest is calculated from date on your claim form i.e. today's date if you are completing and submitting your form today.
3. You don't need to include docs at this stage as far as I am aware, merely the stated details on the claim form, save the copies of supporting docs for supporting your witness statement when that time comes.
No idea how it will pan out really. Different airlines, different circumstances in most cases. You can hope that the airline settles but be prepared to go to a hearing, that way if they concede beforehand it's a bonus.
Thanks Centipede - I actually had edited my post with another question for you please :
4. I wasn't able to claim for the loss of one nights accommodation (because we arrived a day later) through travel insurance and I didn't put it in my original letter to TC. (I didn't know I wasn't getting it at that stage). So...can I now include this in my court claim as I still feel that it is TCooks responsibility to compensate us. I didn't put this in the correspondence with Thomas Cook, but hoping that doesnt matter.0 -
Before I put pen to paper regarding compensation, I would really welcome some input (from those with more knowledge than me) regarding a cancelled flight and whether or not we are in with a batting chance!
Briefly we arrived at Barcelona airport on 27/05/2010 for our 2pm flight to Newcastle courtesy of Easyjet. The screens were showing 2 easyjet cancelled flights for that day, Gatwick and the aforementioned Newcastle. The check in girls could offer no more information than the screen. We were taken to an hotel in the middle of nowhere and informed we would be collected the next day by taxi. The taxi didn't show and we found our own way to the airport. As you can imagine there were lots of people from the cancelled flight and that day's flight trying to get on one aeroplane. It wan't a pretty sight! We were one of the lucky ones and got home 25 hours later.
I have the flight number, departure time, & date but sadly no booking reference as emails from that date are long gone. I have no boarding pass stub but I feel certain we would/should be able to be found in Easyjets booking system for that day. Flightstats.com show status unknown for this particular date. It looks like we would be entitled to circa Euro 400 each so is it worth a try. Thank you - Sally0 -
I have just heard back from British Airways regarding a 24 hour delay in Miami earlier this year. In part the reply reads;
"Your claim for compensation has been refused because flight BA208 on 23 May 2012 was delayed due to aircraft damage, which was not caused by British Airways. Under EU legislation, British Airways is not liable for a compensation payment in this situation."
Does any one have any thoughts on this as to whether BA are trying to wriggle out of their responsibility on this one?

I have recently tried to put in a claim for cancelled Olympic Airlines flights with the modern day equivalent airline, Olympic Air, but they have just written back to say that they are not responsible for the old company, which went out of service in 2009. Judging from what Wikipedia say, they cleverly managed to set up the new company without taking on the assets or debts of Olympic Airlines.
Can anyone tell me if there is any way I can still put in a claim for compensation for these cancelled flights please? Thanks.0 -
I sent my letter to Thomas Cook following months of emails stating I I reserve the right to issue legal proceedings without giving you further notice in writing after 14 days.
They have emailed me saying "Following a review of your entire case, you will be contacted again with a view to bringing this matter to a satisfactory conclusion for all concerned.
As a member of ABTA we endeavour to respond to your correspondence within 28 days of receipt. In the meantime, I apologise for any delay in our further reply."
Do I wait the 28 days or continue with the 14 as my case has now been reviewed about 5 times and I still have no reason for the delays!

Hi, I have a couple of questions that I would appreciate help with
Should I be sending a letter or an email to the airlines?
Has anyone had any experience with Singapore Airlines? If so, what email/address should I send my claim to?
What should I do if I only know the flight number? I can't find a booking reference number anywhere.0 -
Signed up to post a reply about this. I got this reply from KLM about a 10+ hour delay back in May 2009 from Detroit to Amsterdam.
"Air travel is governed by the international body of law known as the Montreal Convention of 1999. Article 35 of this regulation sets a time limit of two years from the date of the planned or actual arrival of a flight to claim for damages."
They therefore declined my claim. I have the flight numbers, old boarding passes and alternate flight time changes which I luckily enough kept. Is this worth pursuing and where would I go from here?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer help.0 -

I was just waiting for the ruling on the 22nd to see whether to go ahead with the claim as it was 5 years ago.
The flight was Flight SQ321 from London to Singapore on 6 October 2007 and it was delayed by about 19 hours. I was on the flight with my mother and I would like to claim for her too.
I've used your template to write a letter (thanks) but I do not have the booking reference number. I also don't know whether to email or send a letter?0 -
Hi,
just wanted to bring in some good news to raise the hopes of all those looking for compensation!
Wizzair has just paid the promised compensation for a flight delayed by about 9hr back in July this year. I thought I'd give a try to the online contact form before trying the paper letter to the home address (Hungary). It worked without any fuss, from first contact to money in my account in less than 3 weeks. :j
And the lady from the company dealing with my claim has been very courteous in every email exchanged.
This way, Wizzair has just made a leap forward in the chart of my favourite flight companies by proving to be fair when things go wrong.
Good luck to all of you seeking for the compensation you are owed!0
