Are there any price comparison sites for LPG gas. I am metered from bulk communal tank. None of the major companies, Im with Flogas, show prices per ltr or cu ft on their sites.

Well i just got a letter from flogas, and they tell me that that are increasing my already eye watering price fro 63ppl to 67ppl! talk about a bunch of robbing b**ta**s.

They haven't changed their ways then! You could call them up posing as a new customer to find out their "real price" (probably around the 43-50 ppl mark) and then write to them asking them to justify how your price/price increase as a loyal customer fits with this.

I have just discovered this board and thought I would add my gas price quote to the discussion.

Supplier is FLOGAS - we have a 1500litre tank - just quoted me 72.9 pence per litre unless I sign a new contract - then they will provide it for 62.9p for six months.

Reading this has provided me with much needed information - luckily before I signed. So a huge thankyou to all contributors.:T

I would be very interested to know what other prices people currently pay in Lancashire /Greater Manchester
    arghhh!!!

Mine goes up to 70.38ppl on Nov 1st. Any mathematicians out there who can compare this to average natural gas , say British Gas.

I'm currently moving away from a local lpg supplier in north yorkshire called Northern Energy (lpghomeheat.co.uk), They were charging 64ppl and took 20-odd days to deliver some lpg that they promised in within 10 working days.

    The Saga:

with my tank at 10% i Ordered the LPG on Friday 5th, they confirmed it would be supplied by Friday 19th at the latest, a call on monday the 22nd and they say 'oh no!, we will have it with you tomorrow.
On the cold almost empty-tank morning of the 24th i call them and they say 'you'll have to wait still saturday 27th'. Not pleased with that answer i spoke to a manager expecting some kind of apology at least but her excuse was "the lorries aren't coming to the villages" and with only 1 autogas station for 20 miles i was confused as to how that would be the case seeing that they are based in a village 5 miles from me and i saw their lorries around, but anyway.
I asked the manager how i would go about switching and she bluntly said "contact a new supplier, they will then contact us and that will be that"

**** 'em I thought to myself.

    The Solution:

I'm moving to calor on their current offer of 48ppl for the first 9 months and £150 credit free. just signing the papers today.

Using Notts Energy Partnership figures (from http://www.nottenergy.com/energy_cost_comparison/energy_comparison_data/september_2012 ) and assuming the natural gas price quoted of 4.49p/unit (i.e. per kWh) and assuming 90% efficiency then at Flogas's outrageous price of 70.38ppl you will be paying 11.75p/unit (i.e. per kWh) that's 2.4 times as much.

No, there are no price comparison sites for LPG - so far as I know. In fact this site is the nearest to one (thanks to everyone for posting their prices!).

Only a few independents post prices on-line. These prices will probably change in a few days as November prices are posted but current ppl are
    Cardiff Gas (here) 47,
Lister for Malvern Hills DC users (see here) 48.5,
    Extra Fuel (here) 52.52,
LP Gas Wales Direct (here) 52.9 and
    Carver (here) 54.1.
The cost of tank rental may differ and you need to factor this in.

We can compare these transparent prices to prices which have been posted very recently on this forum:
    Flogas 72.9, 70.38, 67, 65, 59.38
    BP (MacGas, i.e. Flogas) 71.95

    Northern Energy 64

The price you get quoted depends on several factors (see my post here). I hear that Countrywide is charging some people 69 ... these are people who have not queried the price they were being charged.

If you want to see how wholesale prices have gone up and down, and Cardiff Gas and Extra Fuel prices have gone up AND DOWN, please check out the charts made up by HateLPG and posted by him (e.g. here) and me (e.g. here - unfortunately Bloomberg's prices are now behind a pay-wall).

In Cheshire area, contract with Calor just run out - got quoted from Calor 11ppl less than I was on - 48ppl fixed for 12 months and £100 credit. Flogas have offered 45ppl with £150 credit fixed for 9 months and Avanti offered 47ppl. Amazing what you can get when you shop around!

1200l tank - use aboout 1 full tank each year with £60 tank rental for all 3 quotes.

Not heard so good things about Flogas - with that offer though, it'll give me £80 cheaper on a tank than Calor. Worth it?
  • Crumbs! I must have struck lucky a couple of months ago, (August / September!). Avanti, 12 month fixed price, 41.9p per litre and tank rental of £60 per year!!:j

Just had another haggle with Northern LPG Supplies/LPG homeheat, result is 50.5p inc VAT, for 5,000 l/yr, up from 47.5p. They had written proposing a price of 55.5p inc VAT.
