    Cue taken -

    34.08% = 0.3408

    Balance + Interest PA = 1.3408

    .3408 / 12 = .0284 (2.84% Interest per month).

    Balance + Interest each month = 1.0284

    APR = 1.0284 ^ 12 = 1.399

    Less Balance = 0.399 = 39.9% Per Annum.

Vanquis merely quote the "Simple" rate - not the APR (Compounded rate) to make you think the card is cheaper than a capital one classic. It isn't.

So if your statement quotes for example 47%, your APR is in fact...

    47/12=3.92% Per Month
    1.0392^12=1.58

    =58% APR not 47%.

I got a Crap 1 Progress card, too, but I don't think I'll use it.

It was only because of being instantly approved for the Crap 1 card I applied for HSBC - didn't even ask for the HSBC credit card - just had a call from them a few days after applying for the current account saying I'd been approved for it as part of the a/c application and did I want it.

    WIN!

But Sygma, Barclaycard, Vanquis, Aqua, and Lloyds TSB are all closed now (Although Vanquis and Aqua have been closed for AAAGES). I don't really need or want to apply for anything else now. I think I'm somewhat prime again and have all I could want

Having said that with all the recent activity on my credit file, searches, new accounts, closed accounts, essentially an "upheaval" of my credit agreements I'll probably be declined for anything I apply for in the next 6~9 months anyway :p

You'd like to think every business holds that true, unfortunately that's not always the case.

Yeaaap  Still got a bit of a way to go though - for example, HSBC offered me 19.9% APR on their credit card not the typical 16.9%.

I tested the waters with HSBC for !!!!!! and giggles applied for a loan - definitely found the boundary!
Thank you for applying for an HSBC Personal Loan.

We have carefully reviewed your application, and we are sorry to advise you we will not be able to issue you with a Personal Loan. We have taken into consideration the credit facilities you already hold with HSBC, and your current borrowing is at the maximum limit we are prepared to agree at this time.

If they'd said yes I'd have cancelled using my right to cancel anyway but atleast I know where my limits are with them at the moment :p

Still three grand in the account at the moment and I intend to keep a good running balance so hopefully they'll sort me out a mortgage in a couple of years :D

    Same here.
Applied yesterday and got a missed call at work.
It only rang twice, I guess I'm not fast enough.

The same happened to a family member - they called first at home, then at the mobile. They didn't try to ring back, but Vanquis called the same way a day (an about an hour) later, finding the person in the end.

When they spend so much effort in contacting you, yes, that means they want to sell you cash advance and PPI, incidentally, for the card that you successfully applied for
    Enjoy the silence...

After completing my IVA I decided to test the waters in the run up to the long journey of repairing my credit. I apllied for a Vanquis Card and got the usual message after applying about it being referred. Cue a call the following morning saying they needed to verify some information and the the PPI push (declined btw, I will only use this to pay for my parking for work and already set a DD up for the full balance every month!) I was approved and received my card this week with an initial Credit Limit of £500!

    Good morning all
I applied for a vanquis credit card last night and they could'nt give me a answer last night. I had a missed call from them on my mobile this morning so I returned the call and they wanted me to answer stuff like salary, contact details, and bank details for direct debit e.t.c. And then the adviser said congratulations you have been accepted you will recieve card and pin within 10 days e.t.c. Really happy with that good starting credit limit too £250.00 im now part of the vanquis team!!!!!
    It takes two to tango!:rotfl:
