Thanks Edinburghlass,
For anyone in the same position with EGG here is the letter I wrote -
Dear Sir/Madam,<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
Thank you for your letter received dated INSERT DATE. I have attached a copy for your reference.
While you state in your letter that you believe the charges levied are fair, I contend that I do not believe these charges reflect the true cost to Egg.
The charges, as stated in my schedule provided to you, total £XX plus, as I believe I have been unlawfully deprived of the money, I have calculated £XX interest at the statutory rate.
I therefore ask that you repay me the full amount of £XX. I have, again, attached a full schedule of the charges and interest with this document.
You have stated in you letter that it is your intention to calculate what you believe as fair charges and offset them against my claim and you have advised me that you are willing to offer me £XX in settlement. This is not at my request and not what I have claimed. I do not accept these as fair charges. I noted your comments regarding the reduction of fees, but under the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999, charges must reflect administration costs and cannot be punitive. I believe that the charges you have applied to my account have been unreasonable and punitive.
I cannot, therefore, accept the sum of £XX as full and final settlement of my claim for £XX referred to in my letter dated INSERT DATE.
I look forward to receiving full payment of £XX within 7 days. Failure to agree this will result in me instigating Court action through which I will be requesting that all charges be refunded in full plus statutory interest plus costs.
Yours faithfully,<O:p</O:p

So should i write another letter saying i want my £563 and it doesn't include the interest?I have dyslexia, so get used to my spelling and grammarMortgage pay off date 11/2028. Target 12/2020 :rotfl:

I would go for the full amount plus interest, you would have had interest on that money had they not have charged you unfairly on it in the first place, then if they give you an offer of the full amount then you can decide whether to accept and be quids in even more. Thanks to all the competition posters.0

I have had worst experince with Egg credit card. Had my card stolen, and fought for months to get them to block it.
I moved home at the time also and each time I called they would say "yes that been now de-activated for you and u will receive new card in post; to new address". Never got a new one, nor was stolen one blocked.
As I had moved addresses by this time, I wasent aware of what was going on until months later when they passed me onto debt collectors cus my account went over limit. Luckily I was contacted by person living at my previous address. The fools dint even get my address changed.
As this account was defaulted and my credit file hit by them, I contacted experian to get it removed or add a notice of correction to that default on my credit report. I am now in the process of getting this cleared as I recently got a call from someone at the Egg Card Fraud team, who I informed that I am amazed at; for now contacting me on a number of occassions and actually trying to help me sort this.
I am just disgusted that I had to go thru all of this beofre someone actuallty came to senses to help my account. Had I been helped before my account would NOT have been closed.... and most importantly my credit file NOT ruinned over some stupid companys mistakes.0 -
