Has anyone had any simmilar cases ?
YOU will have to start court processe first thought to gt all your money as they only offer part offer other wise.
Write back and say you except this offer WITHOUT PREjUDICE as part payment only but will continue to court for the rest. They are one of the worst to claim from but you will get your money took me about three months from start to finnish but well worth it. GOOD LUCK0 -
BARCLAYCARD had a visit from the bailifs last week, executed by me for a friend.
After 2 failed attemps, it looks like the bailiffs now have the money.
Would love to have been there0 -
Hi all, I've been a lurker here for a while, but have just started to claim back my credit card fees...
I thought I'd give Barclaycard a go, as i remember having a couple of late fees and also ppi payments, i THOUGHT the acount was closed 3 years ago, so imagine my suprise when i finally got the statemants back (including a wonderful letter about how they were sending me copies of the microfilm statements "out of the goodness of their hearts"!!) and discovered that not only is the account still active....
IT'S £500 IN CREDIT!!!!!!! (I sent them a letter changing my address and closing the account 3 years ago, but they obviously have not done either...)
Now my questions are thus..... can i claim for interest on the money that is rightfully mine, and can i claim for the ppi and late payment fes at the same time if i itemise the whole thing???
Thanks in advance folks, and long live MoneysavingExpert.com!I am one of the 63336.'It is better to have lived one day as a tiger than a thousand years as a sheep.'

Just received a response from Barclaycard, I sent letter asking for £1087.22 (19 separate charges + interest) and they've offered me £432.00 stating:
"Barclaycard is aware of all the information you have drawn to our attention. I must inform you, however, that we disagree with your legal analysis
Putting the above to one side, as a goodwill gesture and without any admission of liability, I am prepared to credit your account with the difference between the charges that you have incured and the current £12 fee. This would amount to £400.00, plus 8% interest"
Now in the mouth of Christmas an offer of 400 odd quid is very tempting but should I maybe write to them stating that 19 charges amounting to £840 minus 19 charges of £12 would amount to £612.00 and tell them I'd settle for that plus their 8% interest? Or should I accept their offer and advise them that I'm accepting it without prejudice as partial payment before starting proceedings?
Any advice would be gratefully received!
Also can anyone let me know if it is my maths that are wonky or theirs0 -
I've sent my letters off to Barclaycard, should get there tomorrow, Special Delivery. I found out they haven't closed the account (I asked for it to be shut 3 years ago!) AND it's £500 in credit! So I added 8% inrerest onto that along with prior charges.
I'll be interested to see what response i get!

On the reclaiming bank charges pages it says to call in the bailiffs but it appears they only mean this in reference to people who have won through the courts I have won through threatening court action.
Any advice on how to proceed please?0 -
Hi folks,
A little advice would be great here.
I am trying to claim £510 of charges from my barclaycard and they have wrote back offering the difference between the standard £12 plus interest, which amounts to £170.
I received my statement today and they have already credited my account with that amount without a reply or acceptance from me.
My questions therefore are:
1) Can i still continue to claim the original amount back
2) Considering they're offering me the difference, would i be wasting my time pressing for the full amount?
Thank you for any help you can offer.

Hi,
I got exactly the same offer in the post today. I think that it's Barclaycard's idea of a Pre-Chrsitmas sale:rotfl: When will these bankers (did I spell that right?) learn, we are not just going to run away and hide!!
I've seen a couple of posts recently where BC have made this offer and people have 1) accepted it "without prejudice" as a partial payment, then carried on and won:j
I'm off now to look for the thread and wording they used. I'll post here when I find it.
BTW It's best to remain nameless until you have won, banks have spies you know!!0 -
