After three months of chasing HSBC I finally got a letter!
I was claiming for £1800.00 was offered £1350
However I received the letter whilst I was on holiday it said I had 10 days to accept but I didn't get back until the 19th!
I accepted and sent the letter back stating I was on holiday, have not received anything as yet.
They did say it would take 14 days to come through well 11 days later still nothing and now they've put a freeze on claims I have no idea if I will get anything after coming so far I hope I still have a chance.Official DFW No*3540 -
SUCCESS AT LAST - 2 SEPARATE CLAIMS, ONE BUSINESS ONE PERSONAL.
The Bank of Scotland, took it right to the wire, with regards to timescale. They held out to the very last minute and tried to fob me off so many times. This has been ongoing since 16th Jan. It was my intention from the very start, to use the Ombudsman if I had no success with the bank. When I was sending my first letter asking for repayment, I phoned the FOS for an address to send the business one and they gave me a ref. no. there and then, taking a note of the date. (19th April). Received usual fob off letters then decline letters to both on the 56th day of the 8 weeks I had to give them. I phoned regarding business account and was told they had decided not to pay out on business accounts, aye right then!.I passed over to FOS on 15th June. Phoned FOS on 26th July and was advised that they were still waiting on BOS getting back to them. I was absolutely furious when the announcement was made on 26th regarding test case, thinking so near and yet so far. Arrived home from the beach yesterday to see 2 letters from FOS. I was expecting them, explaining about test case and can you beleive it, it was offers from BOS for both claims.:j The acceptance letter was in the post, Special Delivery, within 10 mins. So much for not paying out on business accounts.:rotfl:
Just received an e-mail from FOS saying thet offer still stands( was a bit concerned after test case announcement). Absolutely delighted with offers, especially as it is over the amount I asked for. Don't know where they got their figures from. So sorry for everyone out there held up for the time being, but hang on in there, your time will come.
Thank you Martin for this great site and special thanks to fellow Scot, Edinburgh lass for all your help and advise:T Now I will just sit and relax tonight with a wee vodie and cola and arrange to have the car advertised. A lovely replacement coming here soon:beer:

:j Hi
Never thought I would be posting here got back late sunday after a long weekend away, checked this site and saw that everything had gone mad with the OFT hearing. We were due to hear from barclays on the 7th of August couldn't believe it when I got home yesterday and found a letter offering a goodwill gesture dated the 26th of July. We were claiming £4095 and they have offered us £2990 in light of everything we have accepted this and sent the letter back recorded delivery. This means we can now pay off our large overdraft and start to see balances in the black for the first time in years.
Thanks Martin you are a star :money: hope everything works out ok for everyone else, will continue to check the forums. :santa2: Sarah0 -
Bank: Lloyds TSB
Amount Claimed: £2700
Amount Paid: £2400
I started the claim process back in April this year, using the template letters on this website. To cut a long story short, I was due in court tomorrow (1st August 2007), and when I checked my bank account tonight there was a lovely surprise waiting for me!! £2400!! No letter, no phonecall, no nothing - But i'm not complaining!!!!
What makes this even better, is that I thought everything was on hold due to the recent news events!!
Thanks Martin0 -
After 7 months of going through the reclaim process, I attended court today. After the OFT announcement last week I was pretty confused about the whole sittuation. However my case still went ahead today. Barclays did not turn up much to the judges annoyance. She did award me the full amount claimed, plus my court costs of £120 plus a days pay from work that I had lost. In total I was awarded £1,749.00.
When you get to the court stage make sure you have prepared your case thoroughly if you are representing yourself. The judge today literally checked my list of charges against my actual bank statements, not all of them but randomly checked about 20 of them. I was so glad that I had been meticulous in my preparation.
Dont give up, keep with it - its worth it!!!0 -
Hi, just thought I would share my experience. Started claim with Abbey thru FOS in May. Had letter yesterday saying that they were prepared to offer £880 as opposed to the £1190 we claimed. Already got £70 back initially from Abbey at start of claim, before going to FOS, so not too bad. Says we have 2 months to accept and money will be in account within 6 weeks.
I would think that any claims that have been in the system for a few months will be settled in spite of latest set-back.

BANK HSBC
AMOUNT CLAIMED £3100
AMOUNT PAID £2600 :T :T :T
This was so easy. Sent the first letter and the bank started sending statements on day 36.(they sent 6years worth of statements in envelopes with 3months at a time so there was a lot.) We worked out they owed us with interest £3100 and they replied on day 14 with an offer of £2600 which was about £100 short of the sum without interest so we took the money. Thankyou so much Martin  :money: and everyone else hang on in there:beer::TMAD EBAY CHALLENGE #5 25 ITEMS =£70.15/£20000 -
Halifax building society
Claimed £586
Won £525
Sent first letter for 6yrs charges and got them within 3 days and they did not charge the £10 (success 1)
Halifax refused to pay up to start with so i sent second letter threatening court, still no joy so i rang them. The lady was brilliant, very friendly and i told her i had left the Halifax after 33yrs because they were hounding me for 3 lots of £39 in 3wks so closed my account. She told me they never pay interest but she accepted the total ammount without that and would send the cheque, she even said she hoped i would go back to them (no chance) It took about two months altogether and i have Martin to thank for my win Cheers Martin. Good luck to those still fighting, don't give up! :money: :T  :j :rotfl:0 -
Bank: Royal Bank of Scotland
Amount Reclaimed: £864.21 (charges without interest)
Amount they paid: £730.00
The story: I'm delighted to tell you that I've received a cheque for the above amount last week, a week before I got married too!! I started the process at the end of April and did everthing Martin's site said. They were a bit slow and didn't follow my deadlines, but hanging in there paid off. Thanks very much, keep up the good work.Debs :j0
