We are in Warwickshire and were paying 43ppl with Flogas plus (if i remember correctly) 18p per day tank rental. What annoyed us was that in our street evryone with Flogas was paying different amounts - despite the fact that all the houses are roughly the same size/build. Flogas were dreadful and refused to budge on any price.

Have just moved to Listers Gases at 37ppl and £50 a year tank rental. We liked the fact that they said that all their customers in a particular postcode will pay the same price. So far their customer service has been fine.

Have also heard that Countrywide are competitive and looking for business

Does your contract with Listers have a maximum rise per 3 or 6 months, please?

Certainly having the same price for everyone within a particular postcode is welcome (I presume the 'particular postcode' is the first 2 letters and the number?). Presumably the further from Listers' depot the higher the price? Extra Fuels have the same price for everyone, irrespective of postcode (but subcontract deliveries outside their home patch). Flogas seem to have different prices for people with identical postcodes, judging by posts from at least two different areas.

Countrywide? Is this the 'Countrywide Farmers' that HeldtoRansom complained about on the "Bulk LPG .." thread on 13.11.2008 after having 6 price rises in 12 months - justified by graphs of Brent Crude prices (from the Daily Telegraph) but when the price went down there were no letters announcing price reductions, even after several months. That sounded like BP who used a similar argument but spared me the graphs, .. and when the crude price went down and I suggested their prices should too they told me over the phone that LPG and crude prices were not connected!

Have checked my Lister gases paperwork and can't see any clause about maximum rises.
They deliver within a certain mileage from their depot so I suppose the further away you are then the more you'll pay.
To be honest after having put up with Flogas then anyone else who is moderately competent and open about pricing is a pleasant change.....

Countrywide would be Countrywide Farmers. I've had no direct experience with them - just heard that they are looking for business - but I suppose that all the firms are.
  • Mullercow - where is that, and for what sort of supply? Bulk, bottled, size/number of bottles?

I get 47kg bottles in pairs, delivered and fitted for £46 each, which if my sums are right (1.95 litres/kg) equates to 50.2p/ltr.

Your 68p/ltr is £62.32/bottle! Seems very high.
  • Sounds excessive. Whose tank? Are you committed?

What do they charge for 47kg bottles?

If you don't know and want me to find out, who is the supplier?
  • So why not change supplier?
  • Hi,
We are in Cumbria, also with Flogas, and tied into a contract !
Price has risen a number of times this year, last time (couple of months ago) I phoned up and told them to take me off automatic refilling, as that price rise was the final straw. The chap on the phone assured me the price was coming down in Sept.
Anyway good news I thought, when letters came from flogas, price drop I assumed ?
Wrong, price rise ! and we have two houses (same street / postcode) guess what two different price rises !! 3ppl and 6ppl.

Will be on the phone on Monday morning !
  • cmwb - what are the actual prices for the two places? Is there anything to justify a differential?

When you say you are tied, is that because they supplied a tank?

If there is a long term commitment how does the price variation work? Is it tied to Platts LPG or something?
  • Hi ,
I have also just had aletter from Flogas saying they're putting up the price of my lpg by 6p per litre because of a 30% increase in the price of gas over the last four weeks.
Does anyone know if there is somewhere I can look up lpg gas prices? I have tried but can only get trends for lpg car fuel.
    Cheers
    Ian

Platts have a European LPG price - but you need to register.

What is the actual price you pay?
