I wasn't clear. Let's say I dial 0845nnnnnn. I actually get through to the desired number and can hear (in this case) the "your call is important to us, please wait" etc and while I'm listening to this I hear the V4 dialling again.
So I guess I need to reset the V4 completely, program in the dialup number for Orchid, then do a forced update.
The instructions are baffling me at present.
Code - 0845
Desc. - Local Rate 'A' (followed by an A in the next column)
I had a similar problem for ages because I was using the wrong 0845 code which was a 'T' type (Translation).
This may have nothing to do with your problem, but it's worth a check perhaps?

Thanks Victor_Delta. I'm using the semi-automatic Heinz program. I wonder if Orchid used T instead of A in the latest/final update.0

Just spotted that the standard programme routes 0845 evening calls to the 18185 mobile rates number (0808 1703703) which is 3ppm. Wouldn't it be better using the normal 18185 route at 0.5ppm?
Or, have I got my figures mixed up?

Oops! Thanks and apologies - must be half asleep today!

The same happened to me on Wednesday evening.
It was OK half an hour ago (Saturday), but I reset the time to last Wednesday! and it did the double calling again. I'm not sure if the call goes to the same number as I expect it to though, because if I by-pass the dialler "she" doesn't say "Welcome" - When it goes wrong all I hear is "Welcome" and the 2nd dialling string cuts the line off for some reason!!
(perhaps there wasn't an 08457****** option!! on that automated system only 1 to 9 lol)
(I'm on the Heinz program with 18185 and BT Evening and Weekends.)

I think I have worked out what was going on!! As I am a fairly new user to 18185, and never used the 0808 gateway before I never knew the 0808 gateway answers with "Welcome"!....
Today, Sunday, I went to my sisters today and forced home her new V4. A test call to a mobile resulted in the double dialling I experienced to the 0845 number at home last week. (posted above). First I thought there was a problem with her program, but thought it a bit unlikely so I thought about it  Then  I dialled the mobile with a 18185 prefix - and hoped the dialler would just let it through! it did and the mobile rang. Then I dialed 121 0808 1703703 and listened......."Welcome", I've heard that voice before I thought!! So I rang just the mobile number and the dialler rang the number, a voice answered "Welcome" and after a slight pause, the dialler rang a number again, this time I waited for a longer time, after about 10 seconds I heard the 4p a minute message :j and my mobile started ringing!!
So I think it's sorted now. You've got to wait a bit!!

Doh! I should have realised what's happening - and the simple explanation!
The routing of 0845 calls (and weekend calls to UK mobiles) is, indeed, via 18185's freephone gateway number (08081703703). Dial that manually and, after a while, you will hear the start of 18185's automatic announcement (yes, it starts with the word "Welcome") inviting you to dial your target number.
To allow that gateway number to work, the announcement has to have started before the target number is dialled and that is achieved by adding a series pauses to the end of the 08081703703 number in the Orchid's programming. Because the time before the start of the announcement can vary, a full five-second pause is used.
That means that, when a user dials the ten or eleven digits of their target number, the Orchid 'saves' those digits and first dials 08081703703, followed by the 5-second pause. Not until those 5 seconds have passed will it then dial the 'saved' ten or eleven digits of the target number.
The impression of 'double dialling' results if the announcement starts before the 5 seconds has passed - the user will hear it start and may not realise dialling has not finished.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. I want to make sure 0870 and 0845 calls go via BT during evenings and at weekends. Currently I am hearing the 18185 recorded message saying 'Welcome . . .' so I know it's not going through BT. My carrier is BT and I have the free evening and weekends package.
I did a phone home to make sure the clock was up to date and I was using the Heinz program. I then looked at the routing table downloaded from here and entered into my phone this string: *###0845#3500#15#. It is now 7.22pm Friday evening but when I dial an 0845 number I am still hearing the 18185 welcome message.
What am I doing wrong?

I would manually update the diallers date and time.
also i notice you are asking for a route 0 in evening and weekend . i assume you are on bt for eve and w/end calls. IS this correct are you on a bt eve and wend plan?
