Hi Laurence, I've moved you into this thread and I'm sure Heinz will be along shortly to help you.0

Hi,
Has anyone managed to get the CWClient app to install on Vista 64? I can't get it to install even in XP/2K/98 compatibility mode.
Also, FYI support@orchid-electronics.com appears to be a broken link on their website. I have sent an email to
enquiries@orchid-telecom.com
Cheers
Laurence
Oh how I hate VISTA, way to much security for home users.
Have you tried running it as administrator?
I think you have to right click and select "run as administrator" from my poor memory.
I have never tried the client on VISTA but other OH has a VISTA laptop so I may try it later.0 -

What that page says should happen just didn't for me - so I had to change it manually:
Click start, then on Search, then on For Files or Folders.
A 'Search Results' box appear. Click on All files and folders and 3 white boxes appear on the left for you to enter information. The cursor should be flashing in the top one and, in there, type CWClient.ini
Leave the centre box empty and check that the bottom one reads Local Hard Drives (C).
Click Search
The file will be found quite quickly (the one with the Type Configuration Settings). Double click on it and a new box CWClient.ini - Notepad box bill open showing the file's content:
[Server]
Host=http://82.68.122.157/
WebServer=Dial/CWServer.dll/
If the numbers on the second line are different, change them to read exactly as above. Then click File, Save.
That's the end of that - now you should be able to log into your CW Client account using your User Name and Password.
Now the fun starts.
When the CW Client window opens, click on Product (the yellow telephone on the left), then Search.
Select search field will be blued - select Product from the drop-down menu and then Set operator will be blued. Select > and Type required value will be blued. Press the space bar once to empty that field and click Add and then Apply
You should then see a line detailing your dialler appear - double click it and you're ready to check your Active Routing Table and construct a new New Routing Table.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Thanks for the continued help Heinz.
another quick questions.
It says on Orchid website that they will programme the dialler for a small fee. I understand that it comes unprogrammed but my question is: Do they take a fee for adding me to the Heinz process?5KW solar, Lux 3.8KW inverter, Uhome 2400 LPF x 6, SOLIC 200 immerser diverter, Leaf 62Kwh, MG ZSev, Ohme home charger, Zappi v2.1, Import: Octopus intelligent ; Export: Octopus Energy Export, 15KW biomass pellet boiler - Windhager., Home Assistant (newbie)0 -

I can now confirm it works on VISTA Home Basic.
Just installed and connected, I think it failed the first time so I turned off Windows firewall and then it worked.
You may need to add it to safe list of firewall if that is the problem.0 -
A very valid point!
I am now thinking about the bypass route so that I can ensure I don't bet BT charges for 1571 etc.
I believe as I am on Sky call charges I would need to do 121 (Orchid Bypass) 1280 (BT link) then the number.
Is there anyway you could programme a one digit shortcut into the dialler to jump straight on to the BT network. e.g. preceeding the number with 5. e.g. to call 01234 56678890 i would dial 50123456678890. I know that the 08 numbers route over Bt but I may not do enough.
I assume this would work with existing Bt customers as well as putting 1280 before the number on a BT network will just be disregarded.5KW solar, Lux 3.8KW inverter, Uhome 2400 LPF x 6, SOLIC 200 immerser diverter, Leaf 62Kwh, MG ZSev, Ohme home charger, Zappi v2.1, Import: Octopus intelligent ; Export: Octopus Energy Export, 15KW biomass pellet boiler - Windhager., Home Assistant (newbie)0 -
I am not on Sky but these are my settings and it may give you some idea of how to set yours up.
I also have BT line rental and if you also do then most of the settings would be the same.0 -
It still means a manual override to Bt from another cps will mean 121 1280.
As this is for my parents I wasnt to make it as basic as possible and I want them on the Heinz programme.
i am wondering if Heinz can add either a shorter code than 121 1280 to allow them to easily jump on to BT or just the Bt shbortcode so that if I tell them they are a couple of calls short of being stung they can sort it out
e.g. if they dial a single number in front of a telephone number or even if they dial 1280.
hope this makes sense.5KW solar, Lux 3.8KW inverter, Uhome 2400 LPF x 6, SOLIC 200 immerser diverter, Leaf 62Kwh, MG ZSev, Ohme home charger, Zappi v2.1, Import: Octopus intelligent ; Export: Octopus Energy Export, 15KW biomass pellet boiler - Windhager., Home Assistant (newbie)0 -

I think you are making it more complicated than it needs to be.
See my carrirer "3" it tells the Orchid to route through BT (in my case ignore primus option 2) and ignore the CPS used.
In the other list No 16 - means if I dial 121 on the phone it overrides any Orchid dialer settings and by passes the orchid.
Example:
I have the use of 1471 blocked (no 22 in RH List)
But if I want to use 1471 I have to use phone and dial 121 1471.
Hope that makes sence.0
