Hi Alice, hope you are having a good weekend. I finally managed to watch the show and am looking forward to further episodes. I wished however that they had given further information on how the couple who moved to Australia got out of the debt they were in, rather than just say that they were referred to debt counselling etc.

I can't remember if I read on here but apparently they sold their house and put the money towards the debt. Although hadn't they remortgaged?? Yeah would of been interesting to see actual figures.....or am I just been nosy :rotfl:

How did Sunday night come round so fast?? The washing didn't dry.....obviously!;) But it did take the bulk of the wetness out so those loads are on the airers. Rest of the ironing done.:)

Have sorted money pots, no money left in my purse, coppers in the money pig, 5ps, 20p and £2 coins in their respective pots, milk and bus money sorted, so should have a few more NSDs this week.

OH still moaning about it being so cold (I did put the heating on earlier to help air the washing:o) he keeps pulling his sweatshirt sleeves over his hands, it's driving me mad.

Didn't manage any batch cooking today, but have meal plan for the week and will try and do some one night.

We've got car trouble, limped to the garage this morning sounding like a boy racer.....needing a new exhaust, just waiting for quote. :-(

Trust this to happen after I sent DS1 £50 last night, blinking typical.

Last nights tea was a disaster, we had some chicken from @ldi to do a stirfry with and it was horrible. When I cooked it it was grey and quite 'fatty and chewy', not nice at all. This is the second time this has happened with chicken from there. I'm going to try and stick to the butcher now.

On the plus side yesterday was NSD 7.

You will never guess what!!!! The tin opener has broken:rotfl::o I went to open a tin of fruit for the kids to have after tea and it just wouldn't work. OH has a go and it just 'hacked' at the tin. I can't believe it. this is the 4th? tin opener in 18months I think?!?

The car is still at the garage, the exhaust part won't be fitted until tomorrow but we've also decided to have the brakes done..... £155:eek:

Can't afford it but they need doing. Will raid a few pots (pet, emergency and car) to get the money together.

DS2 came home with a letter about a school trip, £215. He said it didn't matter as he knows money is tight but I've said we'll see. :o

Still can't believe the tin open has broken. Lol

The final bill for the car is £225!! at least OH gets paid tomorrow.

Tonight I'm going to go through the paperwork that has accumulated....again! Tea is already to go in the oven, cottage pie I made last night.

OH has also been told that his hours are definitely going to change from 1st Feb, which means we have to pay more childcare costs which is not good.

Anyway must get on with some work...hehehe.

Booo to the car troubles :(

My DS1's school trips seem to be getting more frequent and more expensive  so I feel your pain on that front!

And as for the tin opener didn't we have a conversation on your thread once before about this and you had bought the expensive one? Or am I thinking about someone else :o Go get the 70p one or whatever it is i've had mine years and I only buy a new one every few years or so ;) xx

You're right DF(W) we did, that's what made me laugh so much. Everybody else's tin openers last years ours seem to last 2 minutes....tut tut.

The car is a pain but at least having the brake pads done now saves us leaving it too long and ending up needing pads and discs, even if it wasn't budgeted for.

We get a break in the council tax next month so we could put that towards DS2s trip. Fingers crossed we can sort it, once January is out of the way we can get back on track.

Hi bagpuss, aww thank you. Some of the 'pots' are actual pots, like the leisure one is an old cockles pot and the emergency fund is a jam jar. But things like the pet and car pots aren't pots at all. I keep that money in a separate account and just keep a note of how much money is for what. Hope that make sense.:o

Tonight I was on fire when I came in (I'm determined for this car marlarky not to get me down!!), as I was the first one in as OH had took DS3 swimming (that needs paying next week £38 ) which meant the heating wasn't on.....result! I got straight to it, put the cottage pie in the oven to heat, popped up the ironing board and did all the ironing, have also done 2 loads of washing (hope it's nice tomorrow), tidied the kitchen, sandwiches made for tomorrow's lunch, and have just done gone through the pile of paperwork......must fill in the the letter from the pru as they are looking for me re an old policy :)

OH has had a statement from Bcard, current balance £1545, still paying £21.52 but they are adding £3.95 interest every month.

OH was calling into supermarket after swimming to get a 'bottle' for a family members birthday, a loaf of bread and some cheese. He had the cash for these.........but he forgot the bottle, couldn't believe it. I wanted him to get it as it was on offer at the supermarket by swimming. :(

Apologies, a bit of a rambling post!

I don't really know how to start this post. Me and OH had the most awful row last night....well a whispered row so the kids didn't hear. I don't really know what started it off to be honest. The threat of him losing his job is getting bigger by the day, and I asked him what he was going to do as hasn't updated his cv yet or spoke to any of the agency's. He just sat there and shrugged his shoulders.

I just lost it then and everything just came spilling out. I've put up with a lot from him in the past (4 'affairs' in 10 years), people say I'm too soft with him and that he's living the life of Riley whilst I pick up all the pieces. If you met him you would never think he was like that, he comes across as a really nice guy and he can be. He's great with the kids, he can be handy around the house, and at times he makes me laugh. But something is missing in our marriage.

We've 'lost' our friends since we started this DMP or was it that they were never our friends in the first place. I've given up everything in my life for my family (my choice), I don't have any what I would call best friends...apart from OH....I have 3 friends but I would never tell them about our DMP or problems with OH.

OH still has his social life with his mates and sports clubs. Perhaps I'm resentful of that, he's carried on as normal whilst I'm trying to hold everything together. I asked him last night if he wanted us to stay together as a family, his answer 'where else would I go', that doesnt really sound like a yes to me.

Perhaps I need to change what I'm looking for in our marriage? I wanted it to be dual effort, 50/50, not me becoming this nagging wife because he spent 50p on a newspaper. Yes I want somebody to 'look after me', make me feel safe, I don't feel that OH does that. I know that I should feel lucky, I could do a lot worse. He's never hurt next physically (mentally he's torn me apart).

I don't know where this will lead. I don't want us to split up (we have done temporarily before and it tore the kids apart) but I don't want to waste my life either. I just want (everybody) to be happy.
