Glorious day, Wednesday, so had a massive, very early Choille Day bonfire, clearing most of the cut stuff I'd hidden in the hedge so the sheep couldn't get to it. There was a real lack of wind though, so it took hours to reach that stage where everything, wet or dry, is just consumed.

Meanwhile, Pete & Co have been in Horse Woman2's place, reducing her road hedge and adding a post & rail fence to the outside of that. He wanted to have a bonfire too, but she wouldn't allow it and made him chip it all. There was a little quiet swearing!

Shame about the dog alfie, especially on your first venture with the breed, but you did the right thing. Horse Woman's rescue dog from Romania is proving a handful, despite the training, running away frequently, and it isn't safe with sheep. I had the impression she was regretting her decision when we spoke a few days ago. She's a real worker, but now the days are short and the weather's sometimes tough, having a bonkers animal just adds to the pressure.

The funeral is arranged for Monday. I'm dreading it, not because of mum but my sister is going. There has been some doubt as to whether she'd go as she's currently sectioned under the mental health act. I really do feel sick at the thought of it, I've a tummy full of knots and snakes etc just thinking about it. They've allowed her out with 2 carers to accompany her. I will be glad when its done.

Will be thinking about you Lucielle.

It's hard but you will get through it & I know what you are going through. These things are best when you have others around you. All the best & hope things go very smoothly.

It's a drab day here but mild.

Lucille she is likely to be having 117 leave, I’m assuming section 3 as it sounds like she has been on it a while. You can contact the ward she is on and just say due to the emotionally charged nature of the event and it being 117 you assume she will obviously be accompanied by two qualified members of staff. She should be accompanied by nurses not HCAs under the MHA. I see why she will want to go and why you’re concerned, but generally staff will be aware of potential risks. I hope it all goes ok.

please don't fret or let it ruin your memories ,, I just told myself im here for my dad and if others cant behave that's to their shame ... may not apply to your sister [medical problems] but just focus on who your there for and don't let anyone ruin that ...

Hope things went okay Lucielle. It will have been a hard day - I've been thinking about you.

Nasty weather here & fierce gales & temps plummeting so just feeling tired as we didn't sleep much last night as it was noisy outside. Collie Wobble is not settling because of the noise & keeps barking.

Not much happening here other than trying to list things on the bay as there is an offer on.

tori, I'm intrigued as to what part of the country you're in with you saying about the boats/ships blowing their horns for the New Year. I've just found out that's what happens where we're going to be living this year :j

Congratulations on your new home, im the other end in Cornwall, hoping to be your end later in the year as we are planning to do the North Coast 500.

Not the greatest start to the year with a break in at work, most likely just kids as seems nothing was taken just vandalism, but a day wasted on a full stock-take.

DH gets his new car this week ended up with a vitara, it funny looking to me (says the woman that drives a smart car:rotfl:) On the bright side is he get a brand new car every 6 months ( he's in the trade) I refuse to drive them as we don't own them so never the designated driver.Dry January is going to be a long month :D

Not much going on in the garden, digger turned up a old contorted tree stump so stole the guts from an old solar fountain and will turn it into a water feature in the permaculture garden for the birds, The pigeons are having a good go at stripping the berries from the ivy so only fair I provide drinks with dinner.

A new Vitara should be OK.....anything new should be at least passable.....which is what ours definitely wasn't yesterday when it went for MoT! :(

Blooming brake hose blew during the test, and there were other brake issues, so we're looking at a few bob to get it back on the road. I can't grumble, but it'll never sell for more than a few hundred as spares and repair on the Bay, as it isn't beautiful.

I'm still searching for a RAV4 or similar Japanese, plastic, 4x4 that hasn't been round the clock....:)

Dave the car issue is just a pain for me, as they are sold on as nearly new cars I can't do anything practical with it, like dump runs It basically costs £50 a week just to get his backside to work in comfort. Problem is im spoilt with having a lad thats a mechanic so I have very little running costs and things like road tax becomes a factor, I guess im just tight :o I don't see driving as a pleasure so don't like spending money on it.

I seriously need to spend a day in the garden this week with the mild weather im very much behind with the weeding, the corkscrew willow is about to come down on Tuesday, Its being sacrificed but its not right anyway unsure if its down to last years dry spell which would be odd for a 15 year old established tree but nothing obvious is jumping out just failure to thrive.
Its all feeling like a building site here currently, April can't come fast enough when we can paint the house and start the planting, no doubt the owner of next door feels the same as they have just put the house on the market.
