Grey sky again, but sun is due, with first hard frost due tonight.I'm hoping for my Mark's mooch tomorrow, so will be keeping eyes open for YS warming stew type items, often there are YS bangers so a sausage casserole perhaps? Or my usual chicken quarters and see about a chick & mushroom something or otherHope your London trip goes well Wednesday, my daughter was up there on Saturday and reckoned it was rammed, so crowded they just got swept along by the crowds, but it was a Saturday before Christmas, so maybe that could explain it?Meals today, another cheese toastie, somehow I have low fat cheese instead of normal, just not melting the same. Not sure if it was my mistake or the Asda picker, one of the slightly annoying First World problems.Dinner, first try of the cheapo Asa Essentials frying steak, with HM AF chips, and nearly wrinkly mushrooms + eggs and just starting to go over toms, grilled I thinkWith the cold weather, here's my microwaved jam sponge pud

Good morning everyone,
Cracking looking sponge Farway.
Can we borrow His Lordship Brambling? DS2 thinks he heard scratching behind the alcove in his "office" yesterday! We'll get traps laid at the weekend at their usual go to spot behind the washing machine.
Very frosty here today, Hector is quite bemused by the ice on the picnic bench, though I don't think he'll try licking it again! The "feels like" is not to get above minus figures today. After having cold legs yesterday I've popped a pair of leggings under my trousers, just cheap rather than thermal ones but what a difference.
DS2 is away today so just me & Hector, I've an online meeting to organise and hope to get at least few Christmas cards written.
Prescription error was made by Boots rather than the surgery so hopefully sorted and DS2 will collect tomorrow.
LO pasta for lunch and Thai green chicken & veg curry with rice for dinner.0 -
I'll put him in the post Caronc, you may get him by Easter 😁 slight warning for Hector he has puffed up and done the side ways crab dance with a passing Rhodesian Rigdeback luckily the dog just sat and tilted his head as to say 'what the....' when I grabbed his lordship. isn't your sister's dog a street dog or borrow a Jack Russell 🐭
The usual work day for me with a 30min meeting turning into 2 hours 🥱 my Argos delivery is due between 10 -12 tomorrow so right in the middle of my weekly 11 call with India so I've handed that off to a colleague as Sod's law will mean it will arrive just after 11 🙄 I pulled back the fridge freezer to clean under it after work and I'm glad I did, let's just say it's been a while🤫
Lunch was going to be a fish finger sandwich but goodness knows where they are and a breaded haddock was near the top of the freezer so I had that. Dinner was bacon, egg, mushrooms and tomatoes 😋
just going to catch up on master chef now having sorted the fridge contents so I can grab it out tomorrow and put in a cool bagLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
I’m on Masterchef catch up too, been swimming - car was starting to freeze over at 8.50 🥶
Hard to keep up with when any programmes are on at the moment anyway…
I’ve had the heating on a bit more today but did get some washing mostly dry on an airer in front of a radiator. Frustrating sort of a work day, might start counting the days til Christmas holidays 🙃
Had LO harissa chicken pasta for lunch and beans with toast for early tea before swimming. Just having a cuppa and half a granola flapjack thingy.0 -
That jam pudding looks nice!:)
I had toast and green tea for breakfast and have just had a slice of apple pie! Yum.0 -
Good morning everyone,
Still in minus figures here, it's overcast so can't see it getting above freezing before it gets dark and the temperatures plummet again. One was Hector's rope toys was accidently left outside overnight. It has frozen solidly to the slabs. Trying to remove it has kept him amused for most of the morning. I'd pop a kettle of boiling water over it but it's in front of the gate and I don't want to create an ice rink in that area so it can stay there until it thaws enough for him to prise off!
I'm finally caught up with "Masterchef the Professionals"? I'm rooting for Sagar as he is a chef at a local hotel, though I doubt he'll be there for much longer after this.
LO curry for lunch. Tonight I'm tweaking JO's double pepper chicken recipe from 7 ways using pork steaks instead of the chicken. I'll cook some baby spuds to go with it.0 -
Sunny, blue sky but very cold, frostless though which was good because I was off to Mark's this morning and icy paths would have kept me in, too dodgy for meNot much luck in Mark's it's only a small one and the Christmas food items have elbowed some regular stuff aside, did get a large cauli though and some YS mince, I had been hoping for a YS chicken or YS beef joint which they normally have, remembered the small jar of cranberry though, which was then overcharged by 10p so had to get that backNot the best visit but at least I also got the Christmas cards while in thereLunch was HM burger with some of the YS minceDinner, rest of the YS mince as savoury mince currently in the oven slowly cooking away. I added chunky spuds into the mix, so probably should do OK on its own without additional veggiesEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

New fridge freezer installed and now turned on, I've just have to work out the temperature panel as it's no longer buttons and see about rejigging the shelves as I can't fit in my tall veg container. I did manage to drop a ceramic fridge magnet and break it 😐
Farway did you see sirloin steak is 25% off in Waitrose if you fancy a Xmas treat 🙂
brrr it's got cold today not helped by keeping the door open for the delivery guys 🥶 when I went out at 7pm there was frost on the windscreen and as I hadn't put the scrapper in this car had to wait awhile to defrost
lunch was a bacon sandwich to use up the bacon even though it had been in a cool bag I decided it would be better to finish it today. Dinner a jacket potato with beans and cheese
im off work until Wednesday using holiday up 🙂Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
There is still a thick frost in my garden. I put a pair of boots with good grips by the back door for when I have to go out there with my dog. I am paranoid about falling over after cracking my rib coming home in the cold weather last year!
I had some fresh pineapple, a toastie and some green tea this morning.

Good morning everyone,
Chilly -6C at 9am here this morning and not much warmer now. It's brighter today so hopefully things will warm up a bit. The heating is off just now but only because I've opened the windows for an hour to air the place.
Cards to be posted were finished yesterday and posted by DS2 last night. Like many I've curbed how many I send only a couple to folk who don't do social media needed letters. Just some ones to be hand delivered to write now.
Must get my Secret Santa present sorted out over the next day or so and I need to reapply for my Blue Badge which expires in the New Year.
Subbing the chicken with pork worked really well in the JO recipe. Yesterday DS2 had an errand to run at lunch time and treated me to a Greg's festive bake which I enjoyed but wouldn't want another one so LO curry today for lunch. DS2 is cooking tonight - Dal, rice and naan.0
