Likewise with a hard frost last night and still around in the shadows but bright blue sky & sunshine

Farway did you see sirloin steak is 25% off in Waitrose if you fancy a Xmas treat 🙂

Ta, missed that but checking the reviews it seems hit & miss, I had my Asda Essentials frying steak, not sirloin, which was OK and assume the W8rose one may be same OK. I think I'll pass on this one and stick with the 25% ham joint. I need to order for next week instead of Asda, but still making my mind up

Lunch, cheese & sliced fresh onion rolls
Dinner, LO savoury mince, It's a bit like very thick chunky soup 'cos I overdid the liquid, but hearty & warming enough for this weather

Spotted my fresh broccoli looking a tad sorry for itself, may attempt a broccoli & Stilton soup but my not if the broccoli gets too sickly

  • Sooo cold 🥶

MIA yesterday, bit of a day in the end. Lunch was roasted carrot, lentils and feta. Made a quick sweet chilli prawn and cashew nut noodle thing last night.

Better day today and it was team Christmas lunch. Scampi and chips for me so nibbles tonight - smoked mackerel pate and crackers, feta and olives, with a cheeky 🍸

My favourite is still in Masterchef, caronc 😉

    So is mine 🙂

I met one of my sisters in Chichester for lunch and the present swap.  I've realised with my dodgy hip I can't leave home at 10 and have a leisurely walk to catch the 10.30 train  :'(I ended up rushing, buying my ticket with 2 mins to spare as I rushed up the stairs 😬 only to hear as I arrived limping and wheezing on the platform that the train was 10 mins late 🙄 note to self on leaving early and enjoying the 6/7 mins waiting for my train in the future 🙂

it was good to catch up although I probably shouldn't have eaten all the large and delicious plate of fish and chips  :s we went int the pub with the intention of a sandwich or something light 😁

i was too full for dinner and I fear I may need the rennie before bed 🤔

  • So cold today!

I had two cups of Yorkshire tea and a big slice of sourdough with smooth PB.

Very frosty with bright sunshine & blue sky, apart from that it's bin day and that's it for excitement today

Still umming N arring about where to buy next week's online shop, but I notice the W8rose ham joint offer is OK until Christmas, so may just add one to my already booked slot there while removing the hold this space bottle of rum, this week's personalised offers give me £3 off a £12 tin of biscuits :o , I think I'll give that a miss

Lunch, a couple of the use up cheapo sausage rolls warmed up in AF, frozen the rest because today is use by day
Dinner, last LO savoury mince, nuked. I was glad of it last night, very warming this weather

I may have a rummage and defrost similar warming food given this weekend's cold forecast

    Good morning everyone,
I think the right chefs are through to the final.  :)
Very frosty again here this morning and I've woken up full of the sniffles with a stuffy head and a cold sore. Will do a LFT later but suspect it's just a cold.
Tesco have been, my 500g pack of leeks was subbed with two huge loose ones weighing in at just over 2kg! Some will be heading to the freezer as I'll struggle to use them. Not bad for the price matched 69p instead of the £2.50 they should have cost.
Usual Friday tidy and then a quiet day I think.
LO chickpea and pepper stew for lunch which I'll either have with a poached egg or dilute with stock for a quick soup. Freezer rake for dinner, probably breaded haddock.
  • Agreed, caronc. Shame the blinking football means we’ve got to wait until Sunday 🙄

So cold today, wfh with the heating on but took ages to feel warm. Have done some washing to make the most of the cost.

Lunch was a posh fishfinger sandwich and dinner was spring onion and soy tuna steak with gingery sweet potato mash and stir fried broccoli and sugar snaps 😋

Frost here again but by the time I left at 10am it had softened enough to easily clear the car.  It had warmed up for a small snowstorm when my sister and I walked into town, it didn't last long 🥶 we had brunch and a catch-up on family gossip (we had seem different sisters ) before I had a 12 o'clock hair cut. I wandered aimlessly around town afterwards before bumping into her on the way back to my car so grabbed a cuppa at hers

I picked up some Christmas bits in M& & as well as some veg for this week and a small gammon.  The new freezer now as the turkey and sausages ready for pigs in blankets, I knew my sister was eying up the empty freezer space  ;) there is a notable difference on my over night electricity with the new FF of about 4p or 5p, I knew my old one was working overtime whilst it not so quietly died and at early 17 it wasn't the most energy efficient 😬

No lunch after my brunch and dinner was a quick cheese omelette and salad as I CBA to cook anything because I forgot to take anything out of the freezer!

Another hard frost here this morning, looks pretty, but only from this side of the window, could be snow on the way, but it all seems a bit vague right now, some weather odd event brewing up but may not happen

Decided on my next online shopping, it's Asda again, finalised the list while items are still showing as in stock, tomatoes seem to come & go as does mousetrap Cheddar.
I scrubbed the ham off my W8rose list, shot up to nearly £15 and that's on offer, I was OK around a tenner but at £15 I think I'll look in Marks and pick one I want, that's if I decide to have ham this year.
Sign of the times, I remember as a kid it was a triangular tin of Ye Olde Oak ham, no one ever had the real thing, in fact I may bung one in my W8rose basket for the Christmas week delivery, be fine for CFO sarnies and transported back to 1950s

Having a food use up & clear out for today,
Lunch, more rolls, cheese with sliced fresh onion
Dinner, was toying with making cauli cheese, but I have so many use up veggies around I've decided on roasted veggies. Cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, parsnips & baby spuds, and defrosting a couple of posh bangers to sit in the oven tray with them. Quick addition of instant gravy & should be an easy & warming meal

  • It is cold but sunny here. It is frosty but I will venture out for a short walk later.

I had toast and fruit for breakfast. I might make a soup later. I saw one on Instagram that looked nice. You add 9 cloves of garlic!
