I totally forgot about the mango so I had it for breakfast. I also had mashed avocado on toast.
I am having the leftovers of the rice and beans today and I was just about to make a red onion and tomato salad to go with it. I will add sweetcorn too.
I am having a mince pie with custard later. I am getting my husband to buy some mince pies on the way home.0 -
Cold and sunny, no frost but plenty of deadly ice about where people have de-iced their car windows and left lethal ice rinks for others, grrrr
. My poor Asda delivery driver was having to avoid these skating rinks as he delivered this morning
Some non-available items and some subs, the one non-available is yoghurt, slight PIA that because I have some on my breakfast, never mind, next week is the W8rose Christmas delivery so will pop some on that, also missing was mackerel fillets for HM pate, I can live without that, the short stock pigs in B were subbed with posh Extra Special ones, OK with that, and it's only once a yearShopping delivery stowed away now, and realised I'd left bog-standard carrots off my list, I have to collect my prescription & post cards tomorrow so may get some thenMeals today, lunch is repeat of cheese + salad sarnieDinner, not sure, I'll have to check use by dates on my delivery but HM AF chips are very likely to feature somewhereEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good morning everyone
Even colder last night and still -6C! Thank goodness it's warm up a bit over the weekend even if does mean rain. Yesterday we had the heating on for most of the day and between that, various domestic appliances and having the oven on for an hour we used (not including VAT or standing charges) over £18 of fuel!! Yes a heavier than normal day but it yikes. The thermostat was set to 18C and radiators turned down in bedrooms etc. so scary and no wonder people are really struggling.
DS2 has a lurgy, unsure if it's one I have, one he caught from DS1 or a different one. LFTs negative so far. I do hope if he is going to share what ever it is, it's sooner rather than later. He's feeling pretty meh and supposed be travelling to Newcastle tomorrow for a few days but he's cancelled as would be in hotel which is no fun if you're feeling rubbish.
Another day in the house for me, have various admin bits to keep me out of mischief.
LO sausage casserole for lunch (was very good though I say so myself, I tweaked the recipe and baked it in the oven with the potatoes layered on top rather than mixed through) and pasta with HM tomato, chorizo and pesto sauce.0 -
Yes, almost looking forward to rainy days, caronc!
Out all day today so house is taking ages to warm up this evening. Beef stew from freezer stash has helped warm me up a bit. Lunch was the LO sesame mushroom spaghetti.
Feels like a long week…0 -
Yikes indeed Caronc 😬 my smart meter display told me it had used £4.25 in half an hour this morning on 18 and then manage to reset itself back to what it should be but I did have a !!!!!! moment
I've also been laid low with the lurgy, I've not tested today although it was negative yesterday. I was up all night coughing so called in sick today as I was and still am feeling rough 🤧😷 his lordship and I were In bed until 2ish. Due to the freezer clearance I've no soup or HM RMso just as well I've not been hungry I've had some cheese and crackers and a banana

It is cold, but I thought I would get up as I have to wash my hair and pick up a prescription this morning. I am waiting until 12 to go out as then it is meant to be above freezing at least!
I am having toast and then a yoghurt and mango. I feel quite hungry as my husband brought home mince pies and I had two and then felt sick so I didn't have dinner. I'm not sure why but I don't know what to do with the rest of the box as my husband doesn't like them. The birds in the park may get them.

Snap with lurgy, not sure if I've a cold or weak Covid, not tested but sniffles with runny / itchy eyes. It's been brewing for a few daysRegardless, being a brave little soldier, I popped out first thing to collect my prescription and post the Christmas cards. The handiest post box was at Morrison's, so I took the opportunity for a mooch round, checking carrots and doughnuts my first time since pre lockdown, a few temptations but was glad I walked past because checkouts were queueing even that early. I'll stick to online for now. Came away empty-handedReviewing today's meals, looking for lurgy friendly + CBA optionsLunch will be a tin of cheapo veg soup, one of yesterday's subs, in lieu of Irish Stew
, not sure why that should be, but I don't mind the choice. Probably make some AF croutons to go with it
Dinner, repeat of yesterday, HM beefburgers, AF chips, LO beans, fried eggs + nuked mushroomsFrightening energy costs Caron & Brambling, I don't have smart meter but assume my costs will be similar, especially as the CH has clicked on during the night for the last couple of days as temperature has plunged overnight. I'm very glad I bought a heated throw last January, very cosy under that watching rubbish TVEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I did go out to try and get my prescription but it wasn't ready. It is never ready at this new pharmacy and they never answer the phone! My husband will have to pick it up before work, if it is ready by then.
I haven't even worked out what our energy bill will be now we have the heating on. I had it on for about 5 hours on and off yesterday. I haven't put it on today yet, but now I went out I will have to as I start to feel cold when I get home from being outside. It is very cold and frosty outside and I helpfully forgot my gloves. At least it was sunny.
I'm not sure what to have for lunch. I fancy a salad but that is quite a weird choice with this weather.
I am going to watch Location, Location, Location from the other night. I am going to sit in the south facing living room as the sun does heat the room a bit.

Good afternoon everyone,
Another baltic one here and still -1C out! It's supposed to snow overnight, we probably will just get sleet then start to warm up a bit tomorrow.
DS2 is still feeling rough though less so than yesterday. I'm very glad he cancelled his trip.
Voluntary admin AGM this evening, it's virtual so thankfully no need to brave the ice.
Chicken casserole and baked spuds for dinner. They can chunter away in a low oven while I'm online.
LO pasta with a big handful of baby toms mixed through for lunch. That's the last of the home grown ones used up.0 -
Another day, another Christmas lunch 😂. Managed 3 courses including a huge piece of sticky toffee pudding today 😋
Still no sign of work quietening down for Christmas but at least I have a wfh day tomorrow to catch up on a few things. I only had one day off but haven’t managed to catch up still…
Only needed some smoked mackerel pate and toast for tea.
When will spring be here? 🥶1
