Sorry to the people feeling ill. I thought I was coming down with something when I woke up yesterday but I think I was just tired from my night out. It was so cold Friday! I am glad it is going to warm up. I find the cold miserable at the best of times, but with the cost of heating the house it makes it all the more depressing!

I just had slightly burned toast with smooth PB.

    Good morning everyone,
Another lie in this morning, I don't know if it's the weather, the lingering lurgy or just plain laziness (probably a bit of all three) but I'm sleeping for Scotland just now. Will need to set an alarm tomorrow as logs are being delivered and I don't want to still be snoozing when they arrive.
DS2 got a tree yesterday, a bit bigger than I would have liked (about 4ft) but the smallest he could get without spending a fortune. He also bought a whole salmon as Morrison's had them on offer. I'll get it portioned and vac packed today.
This afternoon I plan to gut the fridge so there is space for our festive goodies - where do all these jars come from, I'm sure they breed when the door's shut!
Bacon sarnie for lunch and I've a piece of pork fillet defrosting for dinner. We'll have it with baby spuds, broccoli, green beans, mushrooms and peppercorn sauce.

Spicy Mexican Bean Soup for lunch with Bacon sandwiches and a packet of crisps.

Crab Linguine, well Spaghetti for dinner and a home made Rhubarb Crumble with custard.

Have topped up Ocado order, off to Morrisons tomorrow for Puff Pastry Minced Pies tomorrow.

Must clean the fridge out for the delivery on Tuesday,
  • Another fairly lazy day here, very much ready for the break now (4 work days left 🙃).

Walked into town mid-morning to purchase an item to solve a minor domestic crisis, was sleeting on the way there but 10 minutes later had turned to horrible, cold rain. It is significantly milder here this evening, can’t quite get used to it. Did some ironing and a few domestics plus some voluntary admin, and have got the tree up and half decorated 😬

Scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast for lunch. I’m doing sort of rubber chicken this week so tonight was Nigella’s pot roast chicken with orzo, served with broccoli and green beans. Rinse and repeat tomorrow (office day) then more of the chicken will feature later in the week!

Lurgy still lingering here  :| but I will go back to work tomorrow with the added advantage that it should be quite this close to Christmas 🤶

A stay at home day for me, there was a hard frost when I went to bed which had been washed away by morning and the rain made it warmer 🙂 I spoke to a sister earlier and the dog and pulled her over on the ice so she was sore and hobbling, it seems a man saw her go over and walked away without asking if she was ok or needed help at getting up 😡 she kept ignoring my question on whether she had her phone as I know she doesn't take it even when walking after twilight and was finally told I sounded like my BIL 🙄 she only has a little Jack Russell but she caught her off guard 😬

lunch was eggs on toast. Dinner a cheese burger with portobello mushrooms rather than bread, coleslaw and chips. I may have to sack the chef as she forgot to season the burger when making it 🙄 there's another one in the fridge so I'll have to remember salt tomorrow

A dark, dank, wet & windy morning, but no more frost at least, not a day for going out though unless having to

My lurgy is also hanging on, hopefully will be clear by Christmas, or it will be an even grumpier Grandad hunched in a chair at DDs >:)

Went online to finalise my Asda delivery for Thursday, good & bad news, good news is the veg is down to 30p offer :) , sprouts etc, bad is too late to remove the Turkey I had on the list as a placeholder :s , how very annoying.
I think it's a fresh one, only small one but surplus now, especially as all my family are vegetarians so not like I can pass it on to anyone, not even Tiny Tim ;)

I've left the sub allowed box unticked, so hopefully they will have sold out by the time they pick & pack mine, fingers crossed. If it's fresh, I'll cook it and freeze most. If frozen, it's not a problem, only needs a bit of freezer shuffling

With the lurgy my appetite is still low, and it's bread & jam for the moment it's all I fancy, but I did have a nourishing bag of crisps last night
    Food today,
    Lunch bread & blackcurrant jam
    Dinner, bread & ginger marmalade

    Good morning everyone,
Lurgy drips on and I've hurt my back/hip while sneezing!  It's very stiff and sore but I've plastered it with Voltarol and I'm hoping moving will ease it. It's the big pre-Christmas clean today and put up the tree. Hector has gone to my sister's until this evening so we can get a clear run. DS2 will do the heavy and bendy stuff and I'll do what I can.
Easy dinner tonight of Chicken Kyiv, baked spuds and various veg.
  • One day of the 4-day week done 🙃

Lots of sickness and chaos but just trying to do the essentials and get through to Thursday.

Cheated and bought a Covent Garden soup this week - spiced butternut - so half of that with some fresh bread for lunch. Easy reheat of the chicken and orzo tonight with some freshly cooked green beans. Have stripped the rest of the meat off the chicken too.

Voluntary admin stuff a bit busy as well so have done some stuff this evening. Need to finish decorating the tree next 🎄

Back to work today, still not 100% but it's not like I'm in the office 🙂 only two of us in today and we had major IT issues 😬 which took a couple of hours to resolve, I do like getting 'SHOUTING EMAILS' I don't know whether she thought that would help find the issue quicker!

I got away for a quick lunch at 2.30pm so ended up with a bowl of porridge and fruit.  Dinner was the second cheese burger with portobello mushroom, I added seasoning to the burger today and some extra onion and chilli for a favour boost.

It's been a horrible wet and windy day, how quickly the weather turned at least it is a lot warmer

Brighter weather today, no rain and could even be some blue sky & sunshine peeking out

My lurgy seems to be going at last, eyes still itchy, but my appetite returned enough to eat a portion of my LO stew last night

I'm off over visiting DS and family today, present delivery now just in case Christmas visit becomes hectic, it sometimes does with them because DIL sister family is notorious for poor time keeping which then throws everyone else into a tail spin. Odd in a way because both her [DIL sister] & hubby have very responsible, highly paid jobs that require precision, just doesn't seem to carry across.

Lunch, unsure because of visit, could be a trip with DS + family to GC café, or maybe just sarnie with DS
Dinner, if still lurgy improving then nuke last of LO stew
