Good morning everyone,
Tree is up and most of the cleaning tackled. My back is still very stiff but not as eye-wateringly painful as yesterday, though DS2 had to help me put my socks on this morning! I'm hoping it eases soon.
DS2 has headed off with Hector to meet a mate and his dog for a long beach walk and lunch in the next town up the coast. Hector should be a tired pup later as it's a 5 mile round trip though if need be they'll get the train back.
Need to finalise my Tesco order for tomorrow and gut the fridge as I never got to it the other day.
LO baked spud for lunch and baked chicken curry for dinner Baked chicken curry | River Cottage0 -
Day two of four done (not that I’m counting or anything 😂). Still frantic but at least I was at home today so got some niggly jobs done in between the chaos.
Lovely sunny day once the rain stopped and still very mild, which is great for the expected gas bill!Avocado and scrambled eggs on toast for lunch. Got an early swimming slot so was home at a sensible time to make chicken and veg egg fried rice with some of the LO roast chicken.0 -
I hope the back is better Caronc 🙂
Definitely a different day weather wise, not complaining as you say JKS the gas bill will benefit 🙂
Nice quiet day atwork 🙂 so those outstanding tasks are getting done
lunch was beans on toast. Dinner I cooked for the first time in ages crispy tofu with peanut sauce, rice, green beans and bang bang cauliflower. After cooking I picked at half of it, the rest will do for tomorrowLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin1 -
Good morning everyone,
My back seems a bit easier this morning - managed to put my socks on without assistance.
Tipping it down here and very windy. Tesco due soon - just one sub and no OOS items. Cannot get fresh sage for love or money locally and my plant failed to thrive this year so don't have a frozen stash. DS2 has headed to a neighbouring town to take Hector for his first full groom so will see if he can get some there. The F&V shop in town might have some later in the week but apparently there's been none at the fruit market this week. First world problem I know and I've lots of fresh rosemary and thyme if need be as well as tub of dried.
LO curry for lunch and JO one pan sausage pasta for dinner.0 -
Dull & a bit drizzly, W8rose delivery arrived on time, one OOS, posh Christmas cheese
, and one sub, posh Blacktail eggs in lieu of cheapo
I told the driver to take back the fresh carrots, they were donkey food sized, and I have more "on offer" coming tomorrow from Asda. He scanned them off, then said I can keep them for free if I like, gift from W8rose. So not a hard instant decision for me to make was it?And the 2.5 kilo of spuds was reduced to 30p, assume that is some Christmas veggie offer being passed onAll considered, not a bad delivery today, with my personalised coupons as well. And the reduced price Christmas pud is use by Jan 2024 so my cunning plan to keep it for 2023 Christmas is workingI was pondering what to have for lunch, but seeing the Brambling beans on toast triggered me, found a BBE March 2022 tin of spaghetti, so that on toast, maybe with fried eggs on top?Dinner, not quite the weather but ready-made cheese & onion Quiché / flan with HM AF chips & saladEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
HM Carrot and Coriander Soup for lunch, with offcuts sandwiches, was going to have Haslet sandwiches but it looks like Haslet is being discontinued, going to make my own,
with Ritz Salad sorry about the mirth, for dinnerCrab rarebit with pickled spring vegetables

Day 3 done, one more to go 😀
Started well and started getting through some catch up stuff before the usual chaos ensued. Oh well, only so much I can get done.
Other half of the Covent Garden butternut soup with a cheese scone for lunch. Early evening swim again, made courgette and pesto pasta when I got in.0 -
Jacko is that with a shop brought dry sponge flan base and quik jel to glaze? Standard buffet dessert of the 70s to usually with tin of mandarin oranges as the fruit
i needed toothpaste (I'm sure there is one hidden somewhere in the house!) so 'quickly' went to Sainsbury to look at their cheap veg lunchtime, it's quicker than going into town. As well as the usual root veg and potatoes I did buy a red cabbage the size of my headfor 19p which I'll share with my sister. I also picked a couple of things using my vouchers, his lordship will occasionally eat their own brand sachets and my voucher made it 30% cheaper. It was very busy but I managed to get home and eat Lunch within the hour. My Waitrose shop has been tweaked to remove the veg and potatoes
I was nearly tempted by their whole salmon which was half price but couldn't face the filleting and portioning it, they had some really big ones for just over £18 so would work out good value. Their half sides were about £15 as more per kg again good value and a lot of meals but my brain was saying 'so much more salmon for £3' I did drive home half regretting not buying a whole one as I have the space but have no intention of going back before Christmas
only myself and my manager were working this afternoon and as we were quiet he offered to keep an eye out on emails and told me to finish at 3.30 🙂
lunch was the rest of the beans on toast. Dinner LO tofu etc from yesterday

Good morning everyone,
Crab rarebit sounds tasty jacko
Bits and bobs on the agenda today, DS2 is popping me round to school club to drop off gifts, friends are popping by for a cuppa and I'm out for dinner tonight with my sister.
Hector got shorn yesterday, he was good but very scared of the clippers so his face is slightly uneven but nothing a week won't fix. He looks tiny without all his curls.

Dull & a bit drizzly, Asda delivery this morning, couple of minor subs, nothing major though, "easy peelers" in place of oranges, I went online yesterday PM to remove spuds because the W8rose ones had arrived, and they were reduced to 30P so no need of Asda ones at £1.15, and I bunged a couple of Essential range jars of curry on, in anticipation of LO turkeyNot expecting subtle curry flavours of herbs & spices at 28p a jar, but I saw a review, and he reckons OK and not burning hot so will do me just fine as not an expert on curriesThe fresh turkey arrived, boo
, but it's not as large as I had feared and will do just fine for one with a bit of freezing portions once cooked. Even though it was an error on my part, it has turned out OK
Turkey use by is 26th, but I may cook it tomorrow anyway because I'm over vegetarian DD for Christmas Day and maybe early omnivore Christmas meal beforehandLunch today, maybe sort of Ploughman's with some of my Christmas cheeses?Dinner, LO cheese & onion flan, with nuked "baked" spud in jacket and salad sidesEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
