Very lazy start to the day, seem to have lost my oomph and didn't get up until gone nine, I wonder if lurgy is having a last bite at me? I hear of others where it returns, but mine has never really gone. Oh well, nothing planned and weather is mild and a bit sunny this morning which is a plus

Breakfast was a cuppa & last of the mince pies, a healthy start to the day
Lunch, thinking of fried eggs & AF bacon
Dinner, rinse & repeat of yesterday, cold turkey, AF HM chips, Christmas chutney, last of the LO stuffing and last of the LO coleslaw

This afternoon I hope to assemble a LO turkey bits curry which will carry me on for a few more not much cooking days, cheating by using a jar sauce, the cheapo Essentials one which should do me. It can then "mature" overnight in the fridge for tomorrow

  • My brother is ill too. Not Covid, but a bad cold. I hope he is better by NYE as we are meant to be going out! First time I have been out on NYE since 2008!

I had toast this morning and then we went out to drop off some donation bags at a charity shop. We stopped at a local vegan cafe I have been meaning to try and bought two slices of strawberry and cream cheesecakes which sounded lovely, but were not nice! I think we will stick to the other local Buddhist cafe we normally buy our vegan cheesecake from!

  • Hello everyone, hope you all had a lovely Christmas. Mine was a mixture of fun chaos with nephews and some lazy days - have been sleeping late which has been lovely.

I’m home for a couple of days so have done a tiny shop to see me through along with a few bits from the freezer. Will need a massive stock up shop when I get back after new year 😬

Was sent home with a turkey and ham sandwich for my lunch. Chargrilled tuna steak, gingery sweet potato mash and green beans tonight. Might have some Christmas pudding later…

Looks like my lurgy has returned 😐 I currently sound like I'm on 40 a day  :s which has irritated my throat, I'll be happy if I can keep it off my chest, one of my sisters and a friend have both been on ABs and steroids for chest infections 😷

A pottering day for me although I popped to Waitrose at 7pm after a quick look in John Lewis first, only four items on my list including Ribena which I'm drinking hot at the moment and I grabbed a small free range Hampshire pork joint from the meat counter £2.50 a kilo rather than £12, it was just under the kilo, it may go into the freezer as my appetite isn't great again.

Lunch was another beef and horseradish sandwich and dinner a omelette with salad

Sorry to hear lurgy is back Brambling, may I join you in the Sick Bay? Light duties only
My gout has popped in for I hope a short visit, right foot rear of ankle this time, a bit odd TBH but far easier to manage / hobble along than on sole of foot. Hopefully the medicine will continue to keep it brief, it was twitching a bit before Christmas but thankfully held off until now, small mercies, and it doesn't hurt all the time, only when I walk

A very dull & wet morning, so I'm not missing anything outside

The food is starting to go down, and the fridge is looking less cluttered. Still some holiday food around though, so no shopping required until next week at earliest

Lunch today, stale bread toast with ???? Could even open up the cheapo pate before it hits is Use By date, not suitable for freezing, so it's use it or bin it
Dinner, the HM turkey curry. Not sure if I'll have any rice with it or just a bowl of curry, see how I feel at the time

I also have a small portion of Christmas pud left, so I expect that will get eaten sometime today

    Good morning everyone,
Sorry the lurgy has returned Brambling and your gout has flared up Farway.
Very wild & wet here this morning, Tesco have been and the poor driver looked very wet and windswept.
Beef and pork are out of the freezer for Sunday and I've got my "to do" list done.
Time for another cuppa and then I'll crack on.
Scotch egg and salad for lunch. Possibly a takeaway for dinner.
  • I'm also not feeling great. I've had an upset stomach the past two days. I managed to eat some toast and a yoghurt.

I've been in bed most of the day resting as I want to go out tomorrow night!

I hope you all have a happy new years eve whatever you are doing.xxx

I hope your stomach has settled Wednesday  :)

Farway I'm sure I read somewhere that for some reason turkey is high in the protein which causes gout, a lot more than chicken? I hope it is settling down

I spent the night coughing although it's not been so bad during the day (hopefully it wouldn't start once I lay down late) so another 'do very little' day for me, slightly annoying as it's a holiday and not a work day

My appetite is still bad, which is good for the diet 🙄 lunch was a couple of crumpets. Dinner some crackers with cheese and a apple

  • Hope everyone’s feeling better soon. Another pottering day for me - some laundry, ironing and tidying. I’ve also been for a swim and walked to the farm shop for a foodie gift to take with me at the weekend.

Lunch was the last of the smoked mackerel pate from the freezer with toast and cherry tomatoes. Bacon, green bean, cherry tomato and pesto pasta tonight.

Back to being cooked for for a couple of days 😋

Next week will be a shock to the system!

Wet & windy weather, looks awful outside, but the only need is for me to go out & replace the wheelie bin liner now the bin has been emptied, and the liner went off in the lorry, sometimes it does & sometimes it doesn't :/

My gout is going, those anti-uric acid tablets are certainly working, would've hung on for at least a fortnight earlier this year. Hope tums & lurgy is on the same trajectory as my gout.
Regarding turkey purines / protein adding to gout, could be, but it was niggling before I stated on the turkey, luckily both gout & turkey have nearly gone now, just one bowl of LO turkey curry left to scoff, and not doing myself any favours by eating the liver [high in purines] pate, but that is nearly gone as well

It's use up & LO meals day today
Lunch, last of the turkey slice in a sarnie, maybe with a bit of salad in there as well?
Dinner, if not the LO bowl of turkey curry then nuke a Ready Meal from my stash before the Use By date gets too close
