  • Busy day of meetings today, some useful, others not so much 🙃

Lunch was LO beef stew with a cheese scone. Early tea of beans with toast before swimming (which I am going to have to drag myself out to)…

I'm glad you passed your MOT and looks like achievable goals for next year.  Good to see Hector is back to normal 🙂

Pottering day at home for me, I could get use to this not working 😁 unfortunately just tomorrow than back to the grind stone Thursday until the 8th

Lunch thanks to my freezer sort was a toasted muffin with scrambled egg and smoked salmon trimmings.  I wasn't hungry tonight so grabbed a apple and some Sussex charmer cheese at about 9pm

Good morning everyone and Happy St. Andrew's Day

Dull, damp and chilly here this morning. I could easily have lingered in bed longer but my bladder said otherwise lol!
Nothing exciting planned for today, just the usual domestics. Need to write a Christmas card as I'm seeing the person tomorrow and it will save on a stamp.
HM soup from the freezer for lunch and cottage pie using some of the beef & lentil ragu I made a couple of weeks ago for dinner.
Cooked a batch of roasted lamb bones overnight the SC for stock (will be repeating tonight with the other haf as I had accumulated loads). Hector is like the "Bisto" kid with the smell.
  • I had my flu jab yesterday. My head felt a bit hot a couple of hours after, but I took two lots of paracetamol and seem to be fine. I feel a bit tired today.

I had toasted pittas and a glass of orange juice for breakfast.

I saw a text that my husband's blood test came back normal as well, like mine.

A brighter morning but no sun, the Asda delivery arrived on time with some subs and not available items, had to send back a sub, smoked back bacon in lieu of streaky, I really wanted streaky for pigs in B.
Missing is still cream crackers, but I did hear Crawford cracker factory were on strike, so that would help explain that, missing nuts I can do without, I never normally eat them, and it was a last minute impulse for Christmas buy

The Essentials steaks do look nice again, I'm also trying a "frying" type his time, but I'll give it a bashing with my meat hammer first seeing as it's not Mark's sirloin

Lunch, crust of last of the HM bread, toasted with grilled cheese & piccalilli topping
Dinner, last LO roasted quarter of chicken, probably with HM AF chips + bit of salad

  • Cold, misty and grey here - much prefer the bright, crisp winter days!

This morning’s weekly meeting dragged on a bit and then as usual a few curveballs this afternoon so didn’t get as much done as I had planned 🙄

Some of the smoked mackerel pate with toast and cherry tomatoes for lunch. Quick pork egg fried rice after swimming tonight.

Seems to be a long week…

It's been a grey day and when I went out at 7pm it was misty and cold with a slight frost on the windscreen 🥶

another non work pottering day for me, I got some admin done although I still need to look at interest rates on my savings and see if I should move accounts

lunch was some LO sauce I froze when I made a JO chicken stew with beans very tasty posh baked beans 🙂 dinner was also a HM RM  dirty rice and peas. There about 10 ready meals / LOs left in the freezer then I shall look at a new fridge Freezer

Thanks for recipe hadai21, sounds tasty, but I'll give it a miss, chilli & garlic are just not for me

Brighter weather this morning, but cold, ideal for the planned braised beef I have in mind once I check BB dates of the other items
Brambling, I'm another with eye on interest rates but so far where I have my loot seems to be keeping up, nowhere near inflation of course

Gas bill this morning, very odd, they are refunding some of my money :) , not the heating rebate that's on the electric, maybe I'll wake up soon, can't be right energy companies paying me money :/ ? It'll end in tears, of course

Lunch, I think I'll warm up a couple of the Essentials sausage rolls + brown sauce as a change from a sarnie

Dinner, assuming BB dates are OK it's braised Essential beef steak, long & slow in the gas oven with veggies in same pot. The subbed carrots delivered yesterday are not the best, some huge ones in there and will be ideal in the stew pot

  • It feels more chilly today. I saw on my phone that Kent is meant to have snow.

I am in the habit of airing out my house in the morning with the windows open, having my bath or shower, doing the laundry and then putting on the heating for an hour and a half to warm up the house and dry the most of the washing on the radiators. It seems to keep it at 18 degrees until the evening.

It does feel nippy at the moment with the windows open though. I just had crumpets with Marmite and some orange juice.
